A system comprises a casing and a liner. The liner is concentric with the casing and the casing is disposed in a borehole. A layer of material disposed between the liner and the casing. The layer of material forms a first bond with the liner and a second bond with a metal alloy disposed on an inner surface of the casing thereby enabling hanging the liner from the casing. The layer of material is an expandable metal disposed upon a tapered surface of the liner. The layer of material contacts the metal alloy along a circumferential surface of the layer of material. The layer of material comprises a product of an exothermic reaction package; where a product is produced by an exothermic reaction of a metal with a metal alloy.

What is claimed is: 1. A system comprising: a casing; the casing being disposed in a borehole; a liner; the liner being disposed in the casing and being concentric with the casing; and a layer of material disposed between the liner and the casing; where the layer of material forms a first bond with the liner and a second bond with a metal alloy disposed on an inner surface of the casing thereby enabling hanging the liner from the casing; where the layer of material is an expandable metal disposed upon a tapered surface of the liner and where the layer of material contacts the metal alloy along a circumferential surface of the layer of material; where the layer of material comprises a product of an exothermic reaction package; where the product is produced by an exothermic reaction of a metal with a metal alloy; where the exothermic reaction package is contained in a cup; where the cup comprises an expandable metal; and where the cup further contains a spring loaded device. 2. The system of claim 1 , where the exothermic reaction package comprises a first exothermic reaction package disposed on a first side of the spring loaded device and a second exothermic reaction package disposed on a second side of the spring loaded device. 3. The system of claim 2 , where the spring loaded device comprises expandable graphite. 4. The system of claim 2 , where the spring loaded device comprises a spring. 5. The system of claim 1 , where the exothermic reaction package comprises the metal that is reacted with a metal oxide. 6. The system of claim 5 , where the metal is aluminum and the metal oxide is iron oxide. 7. The system of claim 1 , where the product is iron and alumina. 8. The system of claim 1 , where the expandable metal comprises an alloy of nickel, iron, molybdenum, manganese, silicon, and/or chromium. 9. The system of claim 1 , where the expandable metal comprises an alloy of chromium, aluminum, titanium, copper, manganese, cobalt, nickel, silicon, sulfur and/or molybdenum.
