The disclosure relates to a method for hydrofluorination of an olefin of the formula: RCX═CYZ to produce a hydrofluoroalkane of formula RCXFCHYZ or RCXHCFYZ, wherein X, Y, and Z are independently the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of H, F, Cl, Br, and C 1 -C 6 alkyl which is partially or fully substituted with chloro or fluoro or bromo; and R is a C 1 -C 6 alkyl which is unsubstituted or substituted with chloro or fluoro or bromo, comprising reacting the olefin with HF in the liquid-phase, in the presence of SbF 5 , at a temperature ranging from about −30° C. to about 65° C. and compositions formed by the process.

What is claimed is: 1. A hydrofluoroalkane composition formed by reacting HF with 2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene in the liquid phase in the presence of a catalyst, the catalyst consisting essentially of SbF 5 , to produce 2-chloro-1,1,1,2-tetrafluoropropane; wherein the hydrofluoroalkane composition comprises greater than about 95 mol% 2-chloro-1,1,1,2-tetrafluoropropane; and wherein the hydrofluoroalkane composition further comprises at least two of 1,1,1,2,2-pentafluoropropane (245cb), 1,1,1-trifluoro-2,2-dichloropropane (243ab) or 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane (245fa). 2. The hydrofluoroalkane composition of claim 1 , wherein the hydrofluoroalkane composition comprises greater than 98 mol% 2-chloro-1,1,1,2-tetrafluoropropane. 3. The hydrofluoroalkane composition of claim 1 , wherein the hydrofluoroalkane composition comprises greater than 99 mol% 2-chloro-1,1,1,2-tetrafluoropropane. 4. The hydrofluoroalkane composition of claim 1 , wherein the hydrofluoroalkane composition is formed at a temperature ranging from about −30° C. to about 65° C. 5. The hydrofluoroalkane composition of claim 4 , wherein the temperature is from about −30° C. to about 25° C. 6. The hydrofluoroalkane composition of claim 5 , wherein the temperature is from about 5° C. to about 25° C. 7. The hydrofluoroalkane composition of claim 1 , wherein the catalyst consists of SbF 5 . 8. The hydrofluoroalkane composition of claim 1 , wherein the amount of 2-chloro-1,1,1,2-tetrafluoropropane is about 99.4 mol% and the amount of 1,1,1,2,2-pentafluoropropane (245cb) is about 0.032 mol%. 9. The hydrofluoroalkane composition of claim 1 , wherein the amount of 2-chloro-1,1,1,2-tetrafluoropropane is about 99.4 mol% and the amount of 1,1,1-trifluoro-2,2-dichloropropane (243ab) is about 0.009 mol%. 10. The hydrofluoroalkane composition of claim 1 , wherein the amount of 2-chloro-1,1,1,2-tetrafluoropropane is about 99.4 mol% and the amount of 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane (245fa) is about 0.059 mol%. 11. A hydrofluoroalkane composition wherein the hydrofluoroalkane composition comprises greater than about 99.4 mol% 2-chloro-1,1,1,2-tetrafluoropropane; and wherein the hydrofluoroalkane composition further comprises at least two of 1,1,1,2,2-pentafluoropropane (245cb), 1,1,1-trifluoro-2,2-dichloropropane (243ab) or 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane (245fa); wherein when the hydrofluoroalkane composition further comprises 1,1,1,2,2-pentafluoropropane (245cb), the amount of 1,1,1,2,2-pentafluoropropane (245cb) is about 0.032 mol%, wherein when the hydrofluoroalkane composition further comprises 1,1,1-trifluoro-2,2-dichloropropane (243ab), the amount of 1,1,1-trifluoro-2,2-dichloropropane (243ab) is about 0.009 mol%, and wherein when the hydrofluoroalkane composition further comprises the amount of 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane (245fa), the amount of 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane (245fa) is about 0.059 mol%. 12. A hydrofluoroalkane composition wherein the hydrofluoroalkane composition comprises about 98.2 mol% 2-chloro-1,1,1,2-tetrafluoropropane, about 0.017 mol% 1,1,1,2,2-pentafluoropropane (245cb), and about 0.02 mol% 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane (245fa).
