Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Systems and processes are disclosed for providing bill splitting processes for splitting a bill amount among a set of purchasers. In one example, the disclosed embodiments may receive receipt information reflecting a bill to be split among a group of purchasers. The disclosed embodiments may parse the receipt information to extract one or more items or services having monetary value and generate a list of the items or services included in the receipt. The disclosed embodiments may also identify the group of purchasers that will participate in paying a proportion of the bill associated with the receipt. Further, disclosed embodiments may be configured to determine a proportion of payment of the total amount of the bill for each purchaser in the group of purchasers. In addition, the disclosed embodiments may be configured to provide mechanisms that enable at least one purchaser to provide payment for the at least one purchaser's payment amount for the bill, such as providing interfaces that allow the user to pay electronically using e-commerce payment systems or financial service products.

The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise parsing the receipt information to extract website address information relating to a survey. 3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the operations further comprise providing a link to a website associated with the survey, based on the extracted website address information. 4. The system of claim 1 , wherein determining the user location information comprises requesting and receiving GPS location information from a GPS process. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise displaying, to the user, data identifying the candidate purchasers, the candidate purchasers comprising the user. 6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise receiving the receipt information in at least one of a plurality of formats, the formats comprising barcode and image formats. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise generating a list of items in the purchase based on the receipt information. 8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the operations further comprise parsing the receipt information to extract website address information relating to a survey. 9. The system of claim 7 , wherein the operations further comprise providing a link to a website associated with the survey, based on the extracted website address information. 10. The system of claim 7 , wherein determining the user location information comprises receiving GPS location information from a GPS process. 11. The system of claim 7 , wherein the operations further comprise displaying, to the user, data identifying the candidate purchasers, the candidate purchasers comprising the user. 12. The system of claim 7 , wherein the operations further comprise receiving the receipt information in at least one of a plurality of formats, the formats comprising barcode and image formats. 13. A method for performing receipt splitting, comprising: receiving, by at least one processor, receipt information specifying a total monetary amount of a bill for a purchase; accessing, by the at least one processor, a social networking site of a user; obtaining, from the social networking site, location information for a plurality of individuals associated with the user; determining, by the at least one processor, location information indicating a location of the user; identifying, by the at least one processor, a subset of the individuals as candidate purchasers, based on the location information of the user and the location information of the individuals, the candidate purchasers comprising the individuals, wherein the individuals are located within a predetermined distance of the user; transmitting to a user device of the user, by the at least one processor, information configured to be displayed that identifies the candidate purchasers; receiving, from the user, a selection of one or more candidate purchasers for a percentage contribution of the total monetary amount, for at least one of the candidate purchasers; and providing, to a respective user device of each of the selected candidate purchasers, access to an interface provided on their respective user device that enables an electronic payment to be made for the percentage contribution or for a different amount. 14. The method of claim 13 , further comprising parsing the receipt information to extract website address information relating to a survey. 15. The method of claim 13 , wherein determining the user location information comprises receiving GPS location information from a GPS process. 16. The method of claim 13 , further comprising displaying, to the user, data identifying the candidate purchasers, the candidate purchasers comprising the user. 17. The method of claim 13 , further comprising receiving the receipt information in at least one of a plurality of formats, the formats comprising barcode and image formats.
