A red-emitting phosphor comprising an Eu2+ doped nitridoaluminate phosphor is provided. The red emitting phosphor comprises an emission maximum in the range of 610 to 640 nm of the electromagnetic spectrum.

The invention claimed is: 1. A red-emitting phosphor comprising an Eu 2+ doped nitridoaluminate phosphor, wherein the red-emitting phosphor comprises an emission maximum in the range of 620 to 635 nm of the electromagnetic spectrum. 2. Red-emitting phosphor according to claim 1 , wherein the red-emitting phosphor has a half-width of less than 65 nm, and the red-emitting phosphor comprises the elements Ca, Li, Al, N and Eu. 3. Red-emitting phosphor according to claim 1 , wherein the red-emitting phosphor comprises a half-width of less than 65 nm. 4. Red-emitting phosphor according to claim 1 , wherein the red-emitting phosphor comprises the elements Ca, Li, Al, N and Eu. 5. Red-emitting phosphor according to claim 1 , wherein the red-emitting phosphor consists of the elements Ca, Li, Al, N and Eu. 6. Red-emitting phosphor according to claim 1 , wherein the red-emitting phosphor is prepared from starting materials comprising Li 3 N, LiAlH 4 , AlN, Ca 3 N 2 and EuF 3 . 7. Red-emitting phosphor according to claim 6 , wherein the molar ratio of the starting materials corresponds to the molar composition Ca 1-x LiAl 3 N 4 Eu x , where x=0.001 to 0.1. 8. Red-emitting phosphor according to claim 1 , wherein the red-emitting phosphor comprises a dominant wavelength of λ, <620 nm. 9. A method of preparing a red-emitting phosphor comprising an Eu 2+ doped nitridoaluminate phosphor, wherein the red-emitting phosphor comprises an emission maximum in the range of 610 to 640 nm of the electromagnetic spectrum, comprising the steps of: A) mixing the starting materials comprising Li 3 N, LiAlH 4 , Ca 3 N 2 , AIN and EuF 3 , B) heating the mixture obtained under A) to a temperature between 900 and 1400° C., C) applying a thermal treatment to the mixture at a temperature of 900 to 1400° C. for five minutes to 30 hours, and D) cooling of the mixture to room temperature. 10. Method according to claim 9 , wherein steps B) to D) take place under a forming gas atmosphere. 11. Method according to claim 9 , wherein the starting materials are used in a molar ratio of AlN:Ca 3 N 2 :Li 3 N:LiAlH 4 :EuF 3 =1:0.05-0.5:0.01-0.1:0.05-0.5:0.0001-0.01. 12. LED having a conversion element comprising a phosphor according to claim 1 . 13. Red-emitting phosphor according to claim 1 , wherein the red-emitting phosphor has a half-width of less than 65 nm, and the red-emitting phosphor consists of the elements Ca, Li, Al, N and Eu. 14. A red-emitting phosphor comprising an Eu 2+ doped nitridoaluminate phosphor, wherein the red-emitting phosphor comprises an emission maximum in the range of 610 to 640 nm of the electromagnetic spectrum and wherein the red-emitting phosphor comprises the elements Ca, Li, Al, N and Eu.
