That which is claimed: 1. A ribbon cartridge comprising: a first spool housing configured to receive a first spool; a second spool housing configured to receive a second spool; a first frame member extending between the first spool housing and the second spool housing; and a locking feature defining a locked position and an unlocked position, the locking feature adapted to lock the ribbon cartridge within a ribbon positioning assembly, wherein the locking feature is integrally formed with the first frame member. 2. The ribbon cartridge of claim 1 , further comprising a spool lock configured to engage at least one of the first spool or the second spool in response to the ribbon cartridge not being received within the ribbon positioning assembly. 3. The ribbon cartridge of claim 1 , further comprising a spool lock configured to disengage at least one of the first spool or the second spool in response to the ribbon cartridge being received within the ribbon positioning assembly. 4. The ribbon cartridge of claim 1 , further comprising a spool lock configured to engage both the first spool and the second spool in response to the ribbon cartridge not being received within the ribbon positioning assembly. 5. The ribbon cartridge of claim 1 , wherein: the first spool is a ribbon supply spool; and the second spool is a ribbon take-up spool. 6. The ribbon cartridge of claim 1 , comprising a radio frequency identification chip. 7. The ribbon cartridge of claim 1 , further comprising a spool lock configured to maintain a tension of a ribbon extending between the first spool and the second spool when the spool lock is engaged with the first spool and the second spool. 8. The ribbon cartridge of claim 1 , wherein the locking feature is configured to compress when the ribbon cartridge is loaded into the ribbon positioning assembly. 9. The ribbon cartridge of claim 1 , wherein the locking feature is configured to decompress when the ribbon cartridge is unloaded from the ribbon positioning assembly. 10. The ribbon cartridge of claim 1 , further comprising a second frame member extending between the first spool housing and the second spool housing. 11. The ribbon cartridge of claim 10 , further comprising a second locking feature defining the locked position and the unlocked position, the second locking feature adapted to lock the ribbon cartridge within the ribbon position assembly. 12. The ribbon cartridge of claim 11 , wherein the second locking feature is on the second frame member. 13. The ribbon cartridge of claim 11 , wherein the second locking feature is integrally formed with the second frame member. 14. The ribbon cartridge of claim 1 , wherein the locking feature comprises a flexible member, the flexible member having a ridge. 15. The ribbon cartridge of claim 1 , wherein the locking feature has a first end and a second end, the first end and second end secured to the first frame member. 16. A ribbon cartridge comprising: a first spool housing configured to receive a first spool; a second spool housing configured to receive a second spool; a first frame member extending between the first spool housing and the second spool housing; and a locking feature defining a locked position and an unlocked position, the locking feature adapted to lock the ribbon cartridge within a ribbon positioning assembly, wherein the locking feature has a first end and a second end, the first end and second end secured to the first frame member. 17. A ribbon cartridge comprising: a first spool housing configured to receive a first spool; a second spool housing configured to receive a second spool; a first frame member extending between the first spool housing and the second spool housing; and a locking feature defining a locked position and an unlocked position, the locking feature adapted to lock the ribbon cartridge within a ribbon positioning assembly, wherein the locking feature is on the first frame member.
