An in-wheel suspension system includes an assembly with a main arm that is pivotally connected at a connection point on the main arm to a shaft point of a wheel, a first linkage unit pivotally connected at one end to a first end of the main arm, and a second linkage unit pivotally connected at one end to a second end of the main arm. At least one second end of the first linkage unit and at least one second end of the second linkage unit, that are not connected to the main arm, are pivotally connectable each to a reference frame at a defined distance between them, such as to form a substantially “Z” like shape.

The invention claimed is: 1. An in-wheel suspension assembly, comprising: a main arm pivotally connectable at a connection point of the main arm to a shaft point of a wheel; a first linkage unit pivotally connected at its first end to the main arm and pivotally connectable at its second end to a reference frame; and a second linkage unit pivotally connected at its first end to the main arm and pivotally connectable at its second end to the reference frame such that at least a portion of the main arm is between the first linkage unit and the second linkage unit, and such that the second end of the first linkage unit and the second end of the second linkage unit are at opposing sides of the main arm with respect to each other; wherein the second end of the first linkage unit is connectable to the reference frame to rotate about a first axis and the second end of the second linkage unit is connectable to the reference frame to rotate about a second axis; and wherein the first axis and the second axis are off parallel with respect to each other. 2. The in-wheel suspension assembly of claim 1 , wherein the second end of the first linkage unit and the second end of the second linkage unit are pivotally connectable to the reference frame at a defined distance between each other such that the main arm, the first linkage unit and the second linkage unit form a substantially “Z” shape. 3. The in-wheel suspension assembly of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the second end of the first linkage unit and the second end of the second linkage unit move with respect to the connection point along a distance that is less than an inner radius of a rim of the wheel. 4. The in-wheel suspension assembly of claim 1 , wherein an overall width of the in-wheel suspension assembly does not exceed a width of the wheel. 5. The in-wheel suspension assembly of claim 1 , comprising a shock absorbing unit connected to at least one of the first linkage unit and the second linkage unit to cause the shock absorbing unit to alter its length in response to a change in a position of at least one of: the main arm, the first linkage unit and the second linkage unit. 6. The in-wheel suspension assembly of claim 1 , comprising one or more rotary shock absorbing units connected to one or more of the pivoting connections of the main arm to the first linkage unit, and the pivoting connections of the main arm to the second linkage unit. 7. The in-wheel suspension assembly of claim 1 , wherein the connection point of the main arm to the shaft point moves along a straight line when at least one of the first linkage unit and the second linkage unit rotates with respect to the main arm. 8. A vehicle comprising: two or more wheels; the reference frame; and one or more in-wheel suspension assemblies each according to claim 1 . 9. The vehicle of claim 8 , comprising: two front wheels; and two in-wheel suspension assemblies each according to claim 1 , each of the two in-wheel suspension assemblies is for one of the two front wheels of the vehicle. 10. The vehicle of claim 8 , comprising: two rear wheels; and two in-wheel suspension assemblies according to claim 1 , each of the two in-wheel suspension assemblies is for one of the two rear wheels of the vehicle. 11. A wheel, comprising: the shaft point; a rim; and an in-wheel suspension assembly according to claim 1 and assembled to the rim. 12. The wheel of claim 11 , wherein the main arm, the first linkage unit and the second linkage unit of the in-wheel suspension assembly are fully accommodated within the rim.
