Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Some implementations provide a method that includes: generating an association, at a mobile device, between a government-issued identification document of a user and a mode of payment; receiving, at the mobile device, a presentation of the government-issued identification document of the user to support a request for payment; validating whether the presented government-issued identification document is a valid identification of the user; and in response to validating the presented government-issued identification document, proceeding with payment by using the mode of payment.

What is claimed is: 1. A method implemented using a mobile device and a sensor of the mobile device, the method comprising: generating an association between an identification document of a user and an account used to electronically process a transaction; obtaining, using a sensor of the mobile device, identifying information about the user to determine a relationship between the user and the account; determining that the user is authorized to request processing of the transaction using the account, based on the identifying information and the association between the identification document and the account; and processing the transaction using currency associated with the account in response to determining that the user is authorized to request processing of the transaction. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein obtaining the identifying information comprises: obtaining data corresponding to a biometric of the individual; and obtaining identifying information from the identification document of the user. 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein determining that the user is authorized to request processing of the transaction comprises: determining that the user is authorized to request processing of the transaction using the account, based on the biometric of the individual and the association between the identification document and the account. 4. The method of claim 3 , wherein processing the transaction comprises: using the sensor to obtain the data corresponding to the biometric of the individual; and authenticating, using the mobile device, a request for payment based on the biometric of the individual. 5. The method of claim 3 , wherein: obtaining the identifying information comprises, obtaining the data corresponding to the biometric of the individual from the sensor of the mobile device; and processing the transaction comprises, authenticating, using the mobile device, a request for payment based on the biometric of the individual. 6. The method of claim 3 , wherein processing the transaction comprises: authenticating, using the mobile device, a request for payment based on personally identifiable information (PII) of the user, wherein the PII is obtained based on facial recognition technology. 7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: extracting encrypted data encoded by a digital watermark applied to the identification document; decrypting the encrypted data encoded by the digital watermark to obtain decrypted data; and determining that the user is authorized to request processing of the transaction based on the decrypted data encoded by the digital watermark. 8. The method of claim 7 , wherein extracting the encrypted data encoded by the digital watermark comprises: extracting frequency-domain information; extracting spatial-domain information; or extracting mixed-domain information. 9. The method of claim 8 , wherein extracting frequency-domain information comprises: extracting spectrum information represented by coefficients in a particular spatial frequency range. 10. A system for processing transactions using a mobile device and a sensor of the mobile device, the system comprising: one or more processing devices; and one or more non-transitory machine-readable storage devices storing instructions that are executable by the one or more processing devices to cause performance of operations comprising: generating an association between an identification document of a user and an account used to electronically process a transaction; obtaining, using a sensor of the mobile device, identifying information about the user to determine a relationship between the user and the account; determining that the user is authorized to request processing of the transaction using the account, based on the identifying information and the association between the identification document and the account; and processing the transaction using currency associated with the account in response to determining that the user is authorized to request processing of the transaction. 11. The system of claim 9 , wherein obtaining the identifying information comprises: obtaining data corresponding to a biometric of the individual; and obtaining identifying information from the identification document of the user. 12. The system of claim 10 , wherein determining that the user is authorized to request processing of the transaction comprises: determining that the user is authorized to request processing of the transaction using the account, based on the biometric of the individual and the association between the identification document and the account. 13. The system of claim 11 , wherein processing the transaction comprises: using the sensor to obtain the data corresponding to the biometric of the individual; and authenticating, using the mobile device, a request for payment based on the biometric of the individual. 14. The system of claim 11 , wherein: obtaining the identifying information comprises, obtaining the data corresponding to the biometric of the individual from the sensor of the mobile device; and processing the transaction comprises, authenticating, using the mobile device, a request for payment based on the biometric of the individual. 15. The system of claim 11 , wherein processing the transaction comprises: authenticating, using the mobile device, a request for payment based on personally identifiable information (PII) of the user, wherein the PII is obtained based on facial recognition technology. 16. The system of claim 9 , wherein the operations further comprises: extracting encrypted data encoded by a digital watermark applied to the identification document; decrypting the encrypted data encoded by the digital watermark to obtain decrypted data; and determining that the user is authorized to request processing of the transaction based on the decrypted data encoded by the digital watermark. 17. The system of claim 16 , wherein extracting the encrypted data encoded by the digital watermark comprises: extracting frequency-domain information; extracting spatial-domain information; or extracting mixed-domain information. 18. The system of claim 17 , wherein extracting frequency-domain information comprises: extracting spectrum information represented by coefficients in a particular spatial frequency range. 19. One or more non-transitory machine-readable storage devices storing instructions for processing transactions using a mobile device and a sensor of the mobile device, the instructions being executable by one or more processing devices to cause performance of operations comprising: generating an association between an identification document of a user and an account used to electronically process a transaction; obtaining, using a sensor of the mobile device, identifying information about the user to determine a relationship between the user and the account; determining that the user is authorized to request processing of the transaction using the account, based on the identifying information and the association between the identification document and the account; and processing the transaction using currency associated with the account in response to determining that the user is authorized to request processing of the transaction. 20. The machine-readable storage devices of claim 19 , wherein the operations further comprises: extracting encrypted data encoded by a digital watermark applied to the identification document; decrypting the encrypted d
