Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A device for detecting a group of offending objects and determining that the number of offending objects is above a predetermined threshold of offending objects. The device uses an image capturing system to scan areas to detect flying objects such as flying insects to detect a presence of a swarm of such flying objects. An action head on the device is configured to automatically respond once a swarm of objects is identified. The action head may disperse the swarm by expelling a substance such as a mist, smoke, repellant or insecticide.

What is claimed is: 1. A device for detecting offending objects, comprising: an image capturing device; an image recognition system connected to the image capturing device, the image recognition system being trained to recognize characteristics of individual objects within a group of individual objects, the image recognition system being further trained to recognize offending characteristics of the individual objects; a moveable arm, the moveable arm deployable to the vicinity of an individual object having an offending characteristic; an action head provided on the moveable arm; and software configured to detect a plurality of individual offending objects from a group of individual offending objects and determine that a total number the plurality of individual offending objects are above a predetermined threshold number of offending objects and to control the moveable arm to move to the action head to the vicinity of the plurality of offending objects that are determined to be above the predetermined threshold number of offending objects. 2. The device of claim 1 , whereby the group individual objects are flying objects. 3. The device of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of individual objects comprise a swarm. 4. The device of claim 1 , wherein the action head comprises a spray head. 5. The device of claim 4 , wherein the spray head is configured to spray a mist. 6. The device of claim 4 , wherein the spray head is configured to spray repellant or insecticide. 7. The device of claim 1 , whereby the action head is a vacuum head.
