Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Various embodiments associated with a heads-up display capable of functioning while underwater are described. An underwater mask can have a segment that a diver sees through and this segmented can be augmented with various portions that disclose information to the diver. These portions can relate to the diver herself or relate to other information such as the location of a source transmitting a signal. With these portions the diver can quickly learn about important information and act on that information.

What is claimed is: 1. An underwater mask, comprising: an eyewear element configured to be substantially transparent; and a disclosure component configured to cause disclosure of a heads-up display upon the eyewear element while the eyewear element is submerged underwater, where the heads-up display comprises a directional portion configured to indicate a location of a signal relative to a direction a wearer of the eyewear element faces. 2. The underwater mask of claim 1 , where the directional portion is configured to indicate a relative directional distance the directional orientation of the viewing field of the eyewear element is from the location of the signal. 3. The underwater mask of claim 2 , where the directional portion is a first color when the relatively directional distance is in a first range, where the directional portion is a second color when the relatively directional distance is in a second range, where the first range and the second range are different ranges, and where the first color and the second color are different colors. 4. An underwater mask, comprising: an eyewear element configured to be substantially transparent; and a disclosure component configured to cause disclosure of a heads-up display upon the eyewear element while the eyewear element is submerged underwater, where the heads-up display comprises a directional portion configured to indicate a location of a signal relative to a direction of an antenna that receives the signal. 5. An underwater mask, comprising: an eyewear element configured to be substantially transparent; and a disclosure component configured to cause disclosure of a heads-up display upon the eyewear element while the eyewear element is submerged underwater, where the heads-up display comprises a distance portion configured to indicate a distance of a signal source relative to a location of a wearer of the eyewear element. 6. An underwater mask, comprising: an eyewear element configured to be substantially transparent; and a disclosure component configured to cause disclosure of a heads-up display upon the eyewear element while the eyewear element is submerged underwater, where the heads-up display comprises a physical vital portion configured to disclose physical vital information about a person that is not a wearer of the underwater mask. 7. The underwater mask of claim 6 , where the disclosure component is configured to cause disclosure of the heads-up display with the physical vital portion when the physical vital information meets a condition and where the disclosure component is configured to cause disclosure of the heads-up display without the physical vital portion when the physical vital information does not meet the condition. 8. An underwater mask, comprising: an eyewear element configured to be substantially transparent; and a disclosure component configured to cause disclosure of a heads-up display upon the eyewear element while the eyewear element is submerged underwater, where the eyewear element is substantially transparent, where heads-up display is viewable when the underwater mask is worn, and where the heads-up display is not viewable when the underwater mask is not worn. 9. An underwater mask, comprising: an eyewear element configured to be substantially transparent; a disclosure component configured to cause disclosure of a heads-up display upon the eyewear element while the eyewear element is submerged underwater; and a light emitting diode configured to indicate a location of a signal relative to a directional orientation of a viewing field of the eyewear element. 10. An underwater mask, comprising: an eyewear element configured to be substantially transparent; and a disclosure component configured to cause disclosure of a heads-up display upon the eyewear element while the eyewear element is submerged underwater, where the heads-up display comprises a physical vital portion configured to disclose physical vital information about a person that is not a wearer of the underwater mask, where the heads-up display comprises a positional portion configured to disclose compass-based positional information with degree information of a direction a wearer of the eyewear element faces, where the heads-up display comprises a directional portion configured to indicate a location of a signal relative to a direction of an antenna that receives the signal, and where the heads-up display comprises a distance portion configured to indicate a distance of a signal source relative to a location of a wearer of the eyewear element.
