Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A product management display system for merchandising product on a shelf includes a divider secured to a support structure and a barrier that is moveable by rotation between a folded position and an upright position without a rotation biasing element. A product positioned in the system can contact the barrier when the product moves toward the forward end of the system and rotate the barrier from the folded position to the upright position. The system may include a rotational mounting structure to which the moveable barrier is connected. The rotational mounting structure may be removably connected to the forward end of the divider. The merchandise display system may be used in conjunction with a product tray which provides for product stored in the product tray to be slid from in the product tray into the product pocket of the merchandise display system.

What is claimed is: 1. A merchandise display system comprising: a front rail configured to be secured to a shelf; a floor member connected to the front rail and including a floor forward end connected to and engaging the front rail to inhibit the floor member from moving in a direction perpendicular to the front rail, a floor rearward end, and a floor top surface; a divider wall extending upwardly from the floor member and dividing the floor member into a first side portion and a second side portion; a first rotational mounting structure positioned proximate and removably connected to the floor forward end of the floor member and proximate the first side portion; a first rotatable barrier moveable between a folded position and an upright position and connected to the first rotational mounting structure; a second rotational mounting structure positioned proximate and removably connected to the floor forward end of the floor member and proximate the second side portion; and a second rotatable barrier moveable between a folded position and an upright position and connected to the second rotational mounting structure. 2. The merchandise display system of claim 1 , wherein a front surface of the first rotatable barrier is configured to engage a surface of the first rotational mounting structure when the first rotatable barrier rotates from the folded position to the upright position, and a front surface of the second rotatable barrier is configured to engage a surface of the second rotational mounting structure when the second rotatable barrier rotates from the folded position to the upright position. 3. The merchandise display system of claim 2 , wherein the surfaces of the first and second rotational mounting structures are vertical surfaces. 4. The merchandise display system of claim 1 , wherein front surfaces of the first and second rotatable barriers are vertical surfaces. 5. The merchandise display system of claim 1 , wherein a front surface of the first rotatable barrier is a front surface of a first rotatable barrier handle, and a front surface of the second rotatable barrier is a front surface of a second rotatable barrier handle. 6. The merchandise display system of claim 1 , wherein the floor member is configured to releasably engage the front rail. 7. The merchandise display system of claim 1 , wherein the floor member and the divider wall are configured to slide in a lateral direction along the front rail. 8. The merchandise display system of claim 1 , wherein the first rotational mounting structure includes a first rotational stop structure configured to engage the first rotatable barrier and stop rotation of the first rotatable barrier toward the folded position, and the second rotational mounting structure includes a second rotational stop structure configured to engage the second rotatable barrier and stop rotation of the second rotatable barrier toward the folded position. 9. The merchandise display system of claim 8 , wherein the first rotational stop structure is a protrusion positioned proximate a lower portion of the rear surface of the first rotatable barrier such that the lower portion of the rear surface of the first rotatable barrier contacts the first rotational stop structure when the first rotatable barrier reaches a folded angle in the folded position, and the second rotational stop structure is a protrusion positioned proximate a lower portion of the rear surface of the second rotatable barrier such that the lower portion of the rear surface of the second rotatable barrier contacts the second rotational stop structure when the second rotatable barrier reaches a folded angle in the folded position. 10. The merchandise display system of claim 1 , wherein the first side portion of the floor member includes a first pusher mechanism and a first pusher configured to slide along the floor top surface of the first side portion to move product toward the floor forward end, and the second side portion of the floor member includes a second pusher mechanism and a second pusher configured to slide along the floor top surface of the first side portion to move product toward the floor forward end. 11. The merchandise display system of claim 10 , wherein the first pusher mechanism includes a first spring-urged pusher adapted to be coupled to the floor member and a first coil spring adapted to urge the first spring-urged pusher forward, and the second pusher mechanism includes a second spring-urged pusher adapted to be coupled to the floor member and a second coil spring adapted to urge the second spring-urged pusher forward. 12. The merchandise display system of claim 11 , wherein a first end of the first coil spring is secured proximate the floor forward end of the first side portion, a second end of the first coil spring is secured to the first spring-urged pusher, a first end of the second coil spring is secured proximate the floor forward end of the second side portion, and a second end of the second coil spring is secured to the second spring-urged pusher. 13. The merchandise display system of claim 1 , wherein the floor member includes a first plurality of teeth adapted to engage a second plurality of teeth defined in the front rail. 14. The merchandise display system of claim 1 , wherein the first rotatable barrier defines a first folded angle in between the rear surface of the first rotatable barrier and the floor top surface when the rotatable barrier is in the folded position, and the second rotatable barrier defines a second folded angle in between the rear surface of the second rotatable barrier and the floor top surface when the rotatable barrier is in the folded position. 15. The merchandise display system of claim 14 , wherein each of the first and second folded angles are between about 20 degrees and about 45 degrees. 16. The merchandise display system of claim 14 , wherein each of the first and second folded angles are about 20 degrees. 17. The merchandise display system of claim 1 , wherein each of the first rotational mounting structure and the second rotational mounting structure is one of a hinge and a flexible member. 18. The merchandise display system of claim 17 , wherein the floor top surface includes a plurality of raised ribs, wherein the raised ribs are configured to permit product to slide along the plurality of ribs when the product is placed on the plurality of raised ribs. 19. The merchandise display system of claim 1 , further comprising a front lock coupled to the floor forward end, wherein the front lock is movable from a first position to a second position, the divider is movable along the front rail when the front lock is in the first position, and the divider is fixed with respect to the front rail when the front lock is in the second position. 20. The merchandise display system of claim 19 , wherein the divider is movable in a lateral direction parallel to the front rail when the front lock is in the first position, and the divider is fixed in the lateral direction parallel to the front rail when the front lock is in the second position. 21.
