A holder for receiving fuses is provided. The holder includes a housing and a fuse shuttle. The fuse shuttle is slidably cooperable with the housing in a first portion of the housing and pivotally cooperable with the housing in a second portion of the housing. The fuse shuttle and the housing define a fuse loading position and a fuse operational position.

What is claimed is: 1. A holder for receiving a fuse having opposed first and second ends and defining a longitudinal centerline thereof, said holder comprising: a housing; a first terminal for engagement with the first end of the fuse, said first terminal connected to said housing; a second terminal for engagement with the second end of the fuse, said second terminal connected to said housing; and a fuse shuttle, said fuse shuttle defining a first receptacle for engagement with the first end of the fuse and a second receptacle for engagement with the second end of the fuse, said fuse shuttle and said housing defining a fuse loading position for inserting the first end of the fuse into the first receptacle of said shuttle and for inserting the second end of the fuse into the second receptacle of said shuttle, and defining a fuse operational position for inserting the first end of the fuse into the first terminal and for inserting the second end of the fuse into the second terminal; wherein, in the fuse loading position, the fuse shuttle is disposed partially outside of the housing, the fuse shuttle being adapted to pivot at least 20 degrees with respect to an arm sliding centerline of the holder, while being pivotably coupled to the housing. 2. The holder in accordance with claim 1 , wherein at least some portion of said fuse shuttle is constrained within said housing such that the fuse shuttle cannot completely separate from the housing. 3. The holder in accordance with claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first receptacle and the second receptacle is resilient. 4. The holder in accordance with claim 1 : wherein the fuse includes opposed first and second generally cylindrical ends; wherein said fuse shuttle includes spaced apart first and second arms; and wherein the first and second arms of said fuse shuttle includes said first and said second receptacles, respectively, for receiving the first and second generally cylindrical ends, respectively. 5. The holder in accordance with claim 4 : wherein said housing includes spaced apart first and second housing features; and wherein each of the first and second arms include an arm feature for cooperation with the first and second housing features, respectively, the arm features and the first and second housing features adapted to slidably guide said fuse shuttle in a first portion of said housing as said shuttle and said housing move relative to each other from the fuse loading position to the fuse operational position. 6. The holder in accordance with claim 5 : wherein at least one of the arm features comprises one of a protrusion and a void; and wherein at least one of the housing features comprises the other of a protrusion and a void. 7. The holder in accordance with claim 4 : wherein said housing includes spaced apart first and second housing features; and wherein each of the first and second arms include an arm feature for cooperation with the first and second housing features, respectively, the arm features and the first and second housing features adapted to pivotally guide said fuse shuttle in a second portion of said housing and to slidably guide said fuse shuttle in a first portion of said housing as said shuttle moves relative to said housing from the fuse loading position to the fuse operational position. 8. The holder in accordance with claim 1 : wherein the first receptacle is adapted for axial acceptance of the fuse; and wherein the second receptacle is adapted for transverse acceptance of the fuse. 9. The holder in accordance with claim 1 : wherein said housing includes a housing securing feature; and wherein said fuse shuttle includes a member securing feature, the housing securing feature and the member securing feature adapted to secure said fuse shuttle in fuse operational position when the fuse is positioned in said fuse shuttle and when the fuse is not positioned in said fuse shuttle. 10. A holder for receiving a fuse, said holder comprising; a housing; at least one terminal for engaging the fuse; a fuse shuttle, said fuse shuttle defining a first receptacle for engagement with the fuse and slidably fitted to said housing in a first portion of said housing and secured to said housing, said fuse shuttle and said housing defining a fuse loading position in which the fuse engages the first receptacle and is spaced from said terminal and a fuse operational position in which the fuse engages said terminal; wherein, in the fuse operational position, said fuse shuttle is slidably fitted to said housing in a first portion of said housing, and, in the fuse loading position, the fuse shuttle is pivotally coupled to said housing in a second portion of said housing. 11. The holder in accordance with claim 10 , wherein said housing and said fuse shuttle are adapted to permit a pivoting movement of said fuse shuttle with respect to said housing of at least 20 degrees. 12. The holder in accordance with claim 10 : wherein the fuse includes opposed first and second generally cylindrical ends; and wherein said fuse shuttle further includes a second receptacle for receiving one of the first and second generally cylindrical ends. 13. The holder in accordance with claim 12 , wherein at least one of the first receptacle and the second receptacle includes a plurality of spaced apart arcuate portions. 14. The holder in accordance with claim 12 , wherein at least one of the first receptacle and the second receptacle includes an axially extending chamfer. 15. The holder in accordance with claim 10 : wherein the fuse includes opposed first and second generally cylindrical ends; wherein said fuse shuttle further includes a second receptacle for receiving one of the first and second generally cylindrical ends; wherein the first receptacle is adapted for axial acceptance of the fuse; and wherein the second receptacle is adapted for transverse acceptance of the fuse. 16. A method for installing a fuse in a fuse holder, said method comprising: providing a fuse holder having a housing including a terminal for engagement with the fuse; providing a fuse receiving member having a receptacle for engagement with the fuse, the fuse receiving member being pivotably positionable in the housing in a first portion thereof and slidably positionable in the housing in a second portion thereof, the fuse receiving member being pivotably coupled to the housing; pivotably positioning the fuse receiving member with respect to the housing into a fuse loading position; inserting the fuse into the fuse receiving member and into engagement with the receptacle while spaced from the terminal; pivotably positioning the fuse receiving member into a fuse installation position; and slidably advancing the fuse receiving member into a fuse operational position with the fuse in engagement with the terminal. 17. The method as in claim 16 wherein the inserting step comprises: inserting a first end of the fuse into a first receptacle of the fuse receiving member in an axial direction; and inserting an opposed second end of the fuse into a second receptacle of the fuse receiving member in a radial direction. 18. The method as in claim 16 wherein pivotably positioning the fuse receiving member with respect to the housing into a fuse loading position comprises pivotably positioning the fuse receiving member into a fuse loading position in one of a clockwise and a counterclockwise direction.
