What is claimed is: 1. A display device comprising: a substrate; a pixel electrode on the substrate; a pixel-defining layer having a first opening exposing a central portion of the pixel electrode and a barrier portion defining the first opening; an auxiliary electrode on the barrier portion; an intermediate layer on the pixel electrode; and an opposite electrode on the intermediate layer and in electrical contact with the auxiliary electrode, wherein the intermediate layer contacts the auxiliary electrode. 2. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the auxiliary electrode comprises aluminum (Al). 3. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the opposite electrode exposes at least a portion of the auxiliary electrode. 4. The display device of claim 1 , wherein the auxiliary electrode has a second opening exposing the central portion of the pixel electrode, and the second opening is larger than the first opening. 5. A display device comprising: a substrate; a plurality of pixel electrodes spaced apart from each other and patterned on the substrate; a pixel-defining layer having a plurality of first openings exposing a central portion of each of the plurality of pixel electrodes; an auxiliary electrode extending in a first direction on the pixel-defining layer; a plurality of intermediate layers arranged on the plurality of pixel electrodes, respectively; and a plurality of opposite electrodes respectively arranged on the plurality of intermediate layers so as to face the respective pixel electrodes and in electrical contact with the auxiliary electrode, wherein each of the plurality of intermediate layers contacts the auxiliary electrode. 6. The display device of claim 5 , wherein the auxiliary electrode comprises aluminum (Al). 7. The display device of claim 5 , wherein each of the plurality of intermediate layers is arranged to be spaced apart from each other. 8. The display device of claim 7 , wherein a distance between each of the plurality of opposite electrodes is less than a width of the auxiliary electrode. 9. The display device of claim 5 , wherein the auxiliary electrode has a plurality of second openings corresponding to each of the plurality of first openings, and the second openings are larger than the respective first openings.
