Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An example medical device is disclosed. The medical device includes an implant delivery system having a delivery shaft including a proximal portion and a distal portion and a detachable frame coupled to the distal portion of the delivery shaft. The detachable frame includes a body portion and a plurality of attachment arms extending away from the body portion. The plurality of attachment arms are configured to be attached to an implant and the detachable frame is configured to detach from the delivery shaft in vivo.

What is claimed is: 1. An implant delivery system, the implant delivery system comprising: a delivery shaft including a proximal portion, a distal portion, and a lumen extending therein; a detachable frame including a body portion and a plurality of attachment arms extending away from the body portion, the plurality of attachment arms being releasably attached to a sheet-like implant; a connection member attached to the detachable frame, the connection member being detachably coupleable to the distal portion of the delivery shaft; and a tether coupled to the connection member, the tether extending from the connection member through the lumen of the delivery shaft; wherein the connection member is configured to detach from the delivery shaft in vivo. 2. The implant delivery system of claim 1 , wherein the detachable frame includes a first side facing away from the sheet-like implant and a second side facing towards the sheet-like implant, the tether extending from the first side of the detachable frame in a direction away from the sheet-like implant. 3. The implant delivery system of claim 2 , further comprising one or more attachment members configured to releasably couple the sheet-like implant to the detachable frame; wherein a portion of the one or more attachment members extends out from the first side and away from the sheet-like implant. 4. The implant delivery system of claim 3 , wherein tension applied to the tether detaches the detachable frame from the sheet-like implant. 5. The implant delivery system of claim 1 , wherein the detachable frame is longitudinally elongated. 6. The implant delivery system of claim 5 , wherein the connection member is attached to the longitudinally elongated detachable frame at a single location proximate a first end of the longitudinally elongated detachable frame. 7. The implant delivery system of claim 1 , wherein the implant delivery system includes a tack member. 8. The implant delivery system of claim 7 , wherein the tack member is stationary with respect to the connection member. 9. The implant delivery system of claim 7 , wherein the tack member is translatable with respect to the connection member. 10. An implant delivery system, the implant delivery system comprising: a delivery shaft including a proximal portion, a distal portion, and a lumen extending therein; a detachable frame including a body portion and a plurality of attachment arms extending away from the body portion, the detachable frame being shiftable between a delivery configuration and a deployed configuration; and a connection member attached to the detachable frame, the connection member being detachably coupleable to the distal portion of the delivery shaft; wherein the plurality of attachment arms are configured to be attached to a sheet-like implant; wherein the connection member is configured to detach from the delivery shaft in vivo. 11. The implant delivery system of claim 10 , wherein the distal portion of the delivery shaft includes a second connection member configured to matingly engage with the connection member. 12. The implant delivery system of claim 11 , wherein rotational force applied to the delivery shaft when the detachable frame is in the deployed configuration causes rotation of the detachable frame. 13. The implant delivery system of claim 10 , wherein a tether is coupled to the connection member and extends from the connection member through the lumen of the delivery shaft. 14. The implant delivery system of claim 13 , wherein the detachable frame includes a first side facing away from the sheet-like implant and a second side facing towards the sheet-like implant, the tether extending from the first side of the detachable frame in a direction away from the sheet-like implant. 15. The implant delivery system of claim 13 , wherein tension applied to the tether detaches the detachable frame from the sheet-like implant.
