Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

The present disclosure is directed to a networking system that provides a user experience in which users of the networking system can interact with user-generated digital content items to select and receive information about one or more products. In particular, the systems and methods involve identifying products shown within user-generated digital content items and associating the user-generated digital content items with the identified products. In addition, where a user selects a product shown within a digital content item, the systems and methods involve selectively identifying other user-generated digital content items for the user based on a coefficient between the user and the other user-generated digital content items. Moreover, the systems and methods involve tracking user-interactions with respect to digital content items and generating and providing a creation insight including an identification of one or more products predicted to engage users of the networking system.

The invention claimed is: 1. A method comprising: posting, from a user account for a user of a social networking system for display on computing devices of social networking users, social networking posts comprising digital content items depicting products; identifying, from a product catalog corresponding to the user account, the products depicted within the social networking posts; tracking interactions between the social networking users and the social networking posts comprising the digital content items depicting the products; determining, for a social networking post depicting a product from the product catalogue, an engagement score indicating one or more social networking users are predicted to engage with the social networking post depicting the product based on the tracked interactions between the social networking users and the social networking posts comprising the digital content items depicting the products; and providing the product for display within an insight user interface for the user account based on the engagement score. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein: determining the engagement score comprises determining a combination engagement score indicating the one or more social networking users are predicted to engage with the social networking post depicting a combination of the product and an additional product from the product catalog based on the tracked interactions between the social networking users and the social networking posts; and providing the product for display within the insight user interface for the user account comprises providing the combination of the product and the additional product for display within the insight user interface based on the combination engagement score indicating the one or more social networking users are predicted to engage with the social networking post depicting the combination of the product and the additional product. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein providing the product for display within the insight user interface for the user account comprises providing, for display within the insight user interface for the user account, the product shown within a user-generated-digital-content item shared by another user of the social networking system. 4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising recommending that the social networking post include the product shown in a digital content item stored on a client device associated with the user account. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the engagement score further indicates a demographic group of users of the social networking system are predicted to engage within the social networking post. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the tracked interactions between the social networking users and the social networking posts comprise comments associated with one or more of the social networking posts shared by the user account. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the tracked interactions between the social networking users and the social networking posts comprise one or more of: users following the user account after viewing one of the social networking posts shared by the user account; users reacting to one of the social networking posts shared by the user account; or users sharing one of the social networking posts within the social networking system. 8. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause a computing system to: post, from a user account for a user of a social networking system for display on computing devices of social networking users, social networking posts comprising digital content items depicting products; identify, from a product catalog corresponding to the user account, the products depicted within the social networking posts; track interactions between the social networking users and the social networking posts comprising the digital content items depicting the products; determine, for a social networking post depicting a product from the product catalogue, an engagement score indicating one or more social networking users are predicted to engage with the social networking post depicting the product based on the tracked interactions between the social networking users and the social networking posts comprising the digital content items depicting the products; and provide the product for display within an insight user interface for the user account based on the engagement score. 9. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computing system to provide, for display within the insight user interface for the user account, the product shown within a user-generated-digital-content item shared by another user of the social networking system. 10. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computing system to recommend that the social networking post include the product shown in a digital content item stored on a client device associated with the user account. 11. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , further comprising instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the computing system to: determine the engagement score by determining a combination engagement score indicating the one or more social networking users are predicted to engage with the social networking post depicting a combination of the product and an additional product from the product catalog based on the tracked interactions between the social networking users and the social networking posts; and provide the product for display within the insight user interface for the user account by providing the combination of the product and the additional product for display within the insight user interface based on the combination engagement score indicating the one or more social networking users are predicted to engage with the social networking post depicting the combination of the product and the additional product. 12. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the engagement score further indicates a demographic group of users of the social networking system are predicted to engage within the social networking post. 13. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the engagement score is specific to a category of products. 14. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the tracked interactions between the social networking users and the social networking posts comprises one or more of: comments associated with one or more of the social networking posts shared by the user account; users following the user account after viewing one of the social networking posts shared by the user account; users reacting to one of the social networking posts shared by the user account; or users sharing one of the social networking posts within the networking system. 15. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the tracked interactions between the social networking users and the social networking posts comprises or more of: ratings of a social-networking page for the user account by one or more users of the social networking system after viewing one of the social networking posts shared by the user account; or messages to the user account from one or more users of the social networking system after viewing one of the social networking posts shared by the user account.
