Methods and compounds are disclosed for treating inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) by using Prostate Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA) inhibitors.

That which is claimed: 1. A method for treating an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of a Prostate Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA) inhibitor, wherein the PSMA inhibitor is in a neutral form or a salt form. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the IBD is selected from the group consisting of Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the PSMA inhibitor is administered to the subject parenterally.
