According to one embodiment, a display device includes an optical modulation element configured to emit image light corresponding to an image by using illumination light from an illumination device, a polarization control element configured to emit first polarized light, and second polarized light on the basis of the image light receiving from the optical modulation element, a polarization separation element configured to transmit the first polarized light as transmitted light and reflect the second polarized light as reflected light, and a projector configured to project the transmitted light onto a first projection area of a projection plane, and projects reflected light onto a second projection area of the projection plane.

What is claimed is: 1. A display device comprising: an optical modulation element configured to emit first image light and second image light using division driving; a polarization control element configured to receive the first image light and the second image light, and to emit first polarized light based on the first image light and second polarized light based on the second image light, a polarization direction of the first polarized light being different from a polarization direction of the second polarized light; a polarization separation element configured to receive the first polarized light and the second polarized light, to transmit the first polarized light as transmitted light, and to reflect the second polarized light as reflected light; and a projector configured to receive the transmitted light and the reflected light, and to project the transmitted light onto a first projection area and the reflected light onto a second projection area different from the first projection area, wherein the optical modulation element is configured to emit a first image based on the first image light and a second image based on the second image light using time division driving, the transmitted light is based on the first image, the reflected light is based on the second image, and the projector is configured to project the transmitted light and the reflected light using time division driving. 2. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the polarization control element is configured to emit the first polarized light and the second polarized light using time division driving. 3. The display device according to claim 1 , further comprising at least one retardation plate configured to transmit at least one of the first polarized light or the second polarized light, wherein the projector is configured to receive the transmitted light and the reflected light from the polarization separation element or the at least one retardation plate. 4. The display device according to claim 3 , wherein the at least one retardation plate is located between the polarization separation element and the projector. 5. The display device according to claim 1 , wherein the first polarized light and the second polarized light enter the polarization separation element from the polarization control element. 6. A display device comprising: an optical modulation element configured to emit first image light and second image light using division driving; a polarization control element configured to receive the first image light and the second image light, and to emit first polarized light based on the first image light and second polarized light based on the second image light, a polarization direction of the first polarized light being different from a polarization direction of the second polarized light; a polarization separation element configured to receive the first polarized light and the second polarized light, to transmit the first polarized light as transmitted light, and to reflect the second polarized light as reflected light; and a projector configured to receive the transmitted light and the reflected light, and to project the transmitted light onto a first projection area and the reflected light onto a second projection area different from the first projection area, wherein the optical modulation element is configured to emit a plurality of images using time division driving, the images are polarized into the first polarized light and the second polarized light alternately, and the polarization control element is configured to emit the first polarized light and the second polarized light alternately using time division driving. 7. A display device comprising: an optical modulation element configured to emit the first image light and the second image light using space division driving; a polarization control element configured to receive the first image light and the second image light, and to emit first polarized light based on the first image light and second polarized light based on the second image light, a polarization direction of the first polarized light being different from a polarization direction of the second polarized light; a polarization separation element configured to receive the first polarized light and the second polarized light, to transmit the first polarized light as transmitted light, and to reflect the second polarized light as reflected light; and a projector configured to receive the transmitted light and the reflected light, and to project the transmitted light onto a first projection area and the reflected light onto a second projection area different from the first projection area. 8. The display device according to claim 7 , wherein the optical modulation element includes a first sub-display area and a second sub-display area different from the first sub-display area, the first sub-display area is configured to emit the first image light, the second sub-display area is configured to emit the second image light, and the projector is configured to project the transmitted light and the reflected light using space division driving. 9. The display device according to claim 7 , wherein the polarization control element includes a first sub-emission area configured to emit the first polarized light and a second sub-emission area configured to emit the second polarized light, and the first polarized light and the second polarized light are configured to be emitted using space division driving. 10. The display device according to claim 7 , wherein the optical modulation element is configured to emit a plurality of images using space division driving, the images include first images each polarized into the first polarized light and second images each polarized into the second polarized light, and the projector is configured to project the first images and the second images on a projection plane alternately using space division driving. 11. The display device according to claim 7 , further comprising a projection plane having the first projection area and the second projection area, wherein the projection plane is configured to receive the transmitted light and the reflected light from the projector. 12. The display device according to claim 7 , wherein the optical modulation element is configured to emit an image with a bright section and a dark section darker than the bright section, the first image light is light at the bright section, the second image light is light at the dark section, and the first image light and the second image light are configured to be emitted using space division driving. 13. The display device according to claim 7 , wherein the optical modulation element is configured to emit a first image and a second image using space division driving, the first image includes a first bright section and a first dark section darker than the first bright section, the second image includes a second bright section and a second dark section darker than the second bright section, the first image light is light at the first bright section and the second image light is light at the first dark section when the first image is emitted, and the first image light is light at the second dark section and the second image light is light at the second bright section when the second image is emitted. 14. The display device according to claim 13 , wherein the first projection area includes a first region and a second region different from the first region, the transmitted light based on the light at the first bright section is projected onto the first region, and the transmitted light based
