An upper for an article of footwear, the upper comprising: a circular-knitted textile element having a plurality of ribs integrally knitted into the circular-knitted textile element, wherein one or more ribs extend longitudinally along one or more of a lateral side and a medial side of the upper, the one or more ribs each extending from a forefoot region of the upper toward a heel region of the upper and terminating in one of a midfoot region of the upper or the heel region. 2. The upper of claim 1 , wherein the one or more ribs terminate in the heel region. 3. The upper of claim 1 , wherein the one or more ribs terminate in the midfoot region. 4. The upper of claim 1 , wherein the one or more ribs affect stretch properties of the upper. 5. The upper of claim 1 , wherein the one or more ribs extending longitudinally include at least two ribs spaced apart from each other and spaced apart from an instep region of the upper and a lower region of the upper. 6. The upper of claim 5 , wherein the lower region of the upper comprises a bottom surface of the upper. 7. The upper of claim 5 , wherein the at least two ribs comprise at least three ribs spaced apart from each other at a uniform distance. 8. The upper of claim 1 , wherein the one or more ribs are adjacent one or more regions of the circular-knitted textile element having a smooth texture. 9. The upper of claim 1 , wherein the one or more ribs includes one or more ribs extending longitudinally along the lateral side and one or more ribs extending longitudinally along the medial side. 10. The upper of claim 9 , wherein the one or more ribs extending along the lateral side mirror the one or more ribs extending longitudinally along the medial side. 11. The upper of claim 1 , wherein the one or more ribs comprise ribs of varying lengths. 12. The upper of claim 1 , wherein the one or more ribs comprise a plurality of parallel ribs extending from the forefoot region of the upper. 13. An article of footwear comprising: an upper comprising: a circular-knitted textile element having a plurality of ribs integrally knitted into the circular-knitted textile element, wherein the plurality of ribs include one or more ribs extending longitudinally along a lateral side and one or more ribs extending longitudinally along a medial side of the upper, wherein the one or more ribs on the lateral side and the one or more ribs on the medial side each extend from a forefoot region of the upper toward a heel region of the upper and terminate in one of a midfoot region of the upper or the heel region. 14. The article of footwear of claim 13 , wherein the one or more ribs on the lateral side and the one or more ribs on the medial side terminate in the heel region. 15. The article of footwear of claim 13 , wherein the one or more ribs on the lateral side and the one or more ribs on the medial side terminate in the midfoot region. 16. The article of footwear of claim 13 , wherein the one or more ribs on the lateral side and the one or more ribs on the medial side affect stretch properties of the upper. 17. The article of footwear of claim 13 , wherein the one or more ribs on the lateral side and the one or more ribs on the medial side each comprise at least two parallel ribs spaced apart. 18. The article of footwear of claim 13 , wherein the one or more ribs on the lateral side and the one or more ribs on the medial side are adjacent one or more regions having a smooth texture. 19. The article of footwear of claim 13 , wherein the one or more ribs on the lateral side and the one or more ribs on the medial side comprise ribs of varying lengths. 20. The article of footwear of claim 13 further comprising a sole structure secured to the upper.
