The invention claimed is: 1. A window covering system comprising: a motorized gearbox comprising; a motor; an output shaft with a hole therethrough; a plurality of interchangeable adapter inserts, each insert, having an external shape that interlocks with an internal shape of the output shaft, and an internal shape configured for interlocking with a respective tilt rod having a corresponding cross sectional shape; a controller disposed in the gearbox, the controller comprising a communication module, the communication module configured as a repeater; and a mesh network of interconnected sensors external to the window covering that communicate with the controller in the gearbox, wherein the motorized gearbox is configured to attach to a tilt rod of a window covering, and the controller controls the motor to open and close the window covering based on a reading of the mesh network of interconnected sensors and the repeater retransmits signals of one or more of the interconnected sensors. 2. The window covering of claim 1 , wherein the mesh network of interconnected sensors are selected from at least one of a security sensor, a temperature sensor, a light sensor, an audio sensor, a smoke detector, a carbon monoxide detector, or a humidity sensor. 3. The window covering of claim 1 , the mesh network of interconnected sensors is part of a climate-control system, a security system, or a group of window coverings. 4. The window covering of claim 1 , further comprising blinds of the window covering operably connected to open or close upon rotation of the motor. 5. The window covering of claim 4 , further comprising a mesh network of interconnected sensors external to the window covering that communicate with the controller in the gearbox, wherein the blinds open or close based on the reading of the mesh network of interconnected sensors. 6. The window covering of claim 1 , wherein the controller comprises a communication module, the communication module configured as a repeater wherein the output shaft is configured to interlock with the interchangeable adapter inserts, and the interchangeable adapter inserts are configured to interlock with corresponding types of tilt rods. 7. The window covering of claim 1 , wherein the controller controls the motor based on a reading of the mesh network of interconnected sensors and the repeater retransmits signals of one or more of the interconnected sensors. 8. The window covering of claim 1 , additionally comprising a battery disposed in the gearbox. 9. The window covering of claim 1 , additionally comprising a Bluetooth communication module disposed in the gearbox. 10. The window covering of claim 9 , additionally comprising an antenna disposed in the gearbox. 11. The window covering of claim 1 , wherein two gearboxes are disposed in the headrail of the window covering. 12. The window covering of claim 1 , wherein the controller is a programmable controller with memory for storing program code. 13. The window covering of claim 5 , wherein at least one of the mesh network of interconnected sensors senses voice commands. 14. The window covering of claim 1 , further comprising one or more solar panels. 15. The window covering of claim 11 , wherein a battery is disposed in the headrail of the window covering. 16. The window covering of claim 14 , wherein the one or more solar panels are incorporated into slats of the window covering. 17. The window covering of claim 5 , wherein at least one of the mesh network of interconnected sensors senses light conditions outside of a building. 18. The window covering of claim 17 , wherein slats of the window covering are moved based on the light conditions outside of the building. 19. The window covering of claim 18 , wherein the slats open at sunrise and close at sunset. 20. The window covering of claim 17 , wherein at least one of the mesh network of interconnected sensors senses a total amount of light energy entering a room.
