The invention claimed is: 1. An apparatus for applying a lid to a container having a neck defining a pouring opening of the container, wherein the pouring opening is initially closed by a closing element, the apparatus comprising: a conveying device for conveying the container along a path; a plurality of applying heads, each applying head for applying the lid onto the neck of the container, the lid having a weldable surface configured to face the neck and contact a connecting portion of the container, the connecting portion disposed radially inward of the neck and extending in an axial direction of the neck, wherein the closing element is attached to the connecting portion; a plurality of welding heads arranged downstream of the plurality of applying heads, each of the plurality of welding heads comprising an induction welding element for welding the weldable surface of the lid to the connecting portion; and a movement device, comprising a motor, configured to: (a) move the plurality of applying heads synchronously with the conveying device along a first portion of the path, so as to apply the lid to the neck as the container moves along the first portion of the path; and (b) move the plurality of welding heads synchronously with the conveying device along a second portion of the path, so as to weld the weldable surface of the lid to the connecting portion as the container moves along the second portion of the path; wherein the conveying device comprises a linear conveyor for advancing the container in an advancement direction; and wherein the plurality of applying heads and the plurality of welding heads are moveable forward and backward along the advancement direction. 2. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of applying heads is a screwing head for screwing the lid onto the neck. 3. The apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein each of the plurality of applying heads comprises at least two gripping elements for engaging with the lid and screwing the lid onto the neck. 4. The apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein each of the plurality of applying heads comprises a driving device for displacing the gripping elements along a longitudinal axis towards the lid, such that the gripping elements are configured to be moved towards and away from the lid along the longitudinal axis; wherein the driving device is further configured to rotate the gripping elements around the longitudinal axis to thereby screw the lid onto the neck. 5. The apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein the gripping elements are operable between: an engagement position in which the gripping elements engage with the lid so as to rotate the lid around a rotational axis of the lid; and a disengagement position in which the gripping elements are disengaged with the lid. 6. The apparatus according to claim 5 , further comprising a pneumatic device for displacing the gripping elements between the engagement position and the disengagement position. 7. The apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein each gripping element comprises a protrusion having a screwing portion configured to engage, when screwing the lid onto the neck, a projection from a side wall of the lid without contacting the side wall. 8. The apparatus according to claim 7 , further comprising an abutment plane associated with a surface of a body portion of the gripping element, wherein: the abutment plane abuts against an end wall of the lid when the gripping element engages with the lid; and the protrusion protrudes from the abutment plane. 9. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of welding heads comprises an actuator for displacing the induction welding element transversely to the path and between: an active position, in which the weldable surface of the lid is welded to the connecting portion; and an inactive position, in which the induction welding element does not engage with the lid. 10. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the induction welding element comprises an electric-induction welder for induction welding the weldable surface of the lid to an annular body of the connecting portion. 11. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of welding heads comprises at least two gripping members for gripping the lid without creating side displacements of the lid during welding. 12. The apparatus according to claim 11 , and further comprising a pneumatic device for displacing the gripping members between: an open position in which the gripping members do not interact with the lid; and a closed position in which the gripping members hold the lid. 13. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of applying heads further comprises at least two gripping elements, operable between an engagement position and a disengagement position, for gripping the lid and screwing the lid onto the neck of the container, wherein: in the engagement position, the gripping elements engage with the lid and rotate the lid around a rotational axis of the lid to thereby screw the lid onto the neck; and in the disengagement position, the gripping elements are disengaged with the lid. 14. The apparatus according to claim 13 , wherein: each gripping element comprises a protrusion having a screwing portion configured to engage, when screwing the lid onto the neck, a projection from a side wall of the lid without contacting the side wall. 15. The apparatus according to claim 14 , further comprising an abutment plane associated with a surface of a body portion of the gripping element, wherein: the protrusion protrudes from the abutment plane; and the abutment plane abuts against an end wall of the lid when the gripping element engages with the lid. 16. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the lid further comprises a welding promoting element having the weldable surface. 17. An apparatus for applying a lid to a container having a neck defining a pouring opening of the container, wherein the pouring opening is initially closed by a closing element, the apparatus comprising: a conveying device for conveying the container along a path; an applying head for applying the lid onto the neck of the container, the lid having a weldable surface configured to face the neck and contact a connecting portion of the container, the connecting portion disposed radially inward of the neck and extending in an axial direction of the neck, wherein the closing element is attached to the connecting portion; a welding head arranged downstream of the applying head, the welding head comprising a compensating device, gripping members, and an induction welding element for welding the weldable surface of the lid to the connecting portion, wherein the gripping members and the induction welding element are coupled to the compensating device, and the compensating device is movable in a plurality of directions to center the induction welding element relative to a center of the lid; and a movement device, comprising a motor, configured to: (a) move the applying head synchronously with the conveying device along a first portion of the path, so as to apply the lid to the neck as the container moves along the first portion of the path; and (b) move the welding head synchronously with the conveying device along a second portion of the path, so as to weld the weldable surface of the lid to the connecting portion as the container moves along the second portion of the path; wherein the conveying device comprises a linear conveyor for advancing the container in an advanc
