Disclosed are a lyocell material for a cigarette filter and a method of preparing the same, wherein a crimped tow is manufactured using a lyocell multifilament including low-strength lyocell monofilaments, and thus the ultimately prepared lyocell material for a cigarette filter can exhibit low strength, thereby increasing processing efficiency during the manufacture of the cigarette filter.

The invention claimed is: 1. A cigarette filter component material comprising a crimped tow of a multiplicity of lyocell filaments, wherein the crimped tow has a tensile strength of 1 to 1.32 g/d and an elongation at break of 5 to 5.5%. 2. The cigarette filter component material of claim 1 , wherein an individual lyocell filament of the multiplicity of lyocell filaments has a strength of 2.0 to 3.5 g/d. 3. The cigarette filter component material of claim 1 , wherein the crimped tow has 15 to 30 crimps per inch. 4. The cigarette filter component material of claim 2 , wherein the individual lyocell filament has a fineness of 1.0 to 8.0 denier. 5. The cigarette filter component material of claim 2 , wherein the individual lyocell filament has an elongation of 5 to 13%.
