Distal access aspiration guide catheter system and methods for delivering implantable devices, catheters, or substances in or near and/or restoring flow through body lumens, such as blood vessel lumens are described. A distal access aspiration guide catheter having a proximal, medial, and distal possessing high flexibility, high resistance to kinking and a large lumen to wall thickness ratio.

The invention claimed is: 1. A catheter comprising: a catheter body comprising: an inner liner defining an inner lumen; a kink resistant member comprising a metallic member defining a plurality of gaps and a polymeric material disposed within the gaps; and an outer cover, wherein the kink resistant member is positioned between the inner liner and the outer cover, the polymeric material being different from a material of the inner liner and a material of the outer cover, the outer cover comprising: a proximal outer cover; and a distal outer cover distal to the proximal outer cover and positioned over at least part of the proximal outer cover; wherein a distal region of the catheter body has an inner diameter to wall thickness ratio greater than or equal to 16:1. 2. The catheter of claim 1 , further comprising a hydrophilic coating on an outer surface of the outer cover. 3. The catheter of claim 1 , further comprising a balloon positioned at or near a distal end of the catheter body. 4. The catheter of claim 1 , wherein the metallic member comprises a braid. 5. The catheter of claim 1 , wherein the polymeric material comprises a thermoset polymer. 6. The catheter of claim 1 , wherein the distal region has a lateral flexibility of greater than 1200 degrees of deflection per inch-pound force. 7. The catheter of claim 1 , wherein the distal region has a kink radius of about 0.174 inch+/−0.008 inch or less. 8. The catheter of claim 1 , further comprising a radiographic marker distal to the metallic member. 9. The catheter of claim 8 , further comprising an adhesive between the radiographic marker and the outer cover. 10. The catheter of claim 1 , further comprising a polymeric layer disposed between the metallic member and the distal outer cover. 11. The catheter of claim 10 , wherein the polymeric layer is positioned over a distal end of the metallic member. 12. The catheter of claim 1 , wherein the metallic member comprises a coil. 13. The catheter of claim 12 , wherein the coil defines a helix defining a helical gap, the plurality of gaps comprising the helical gap, and a width of the helical gap increasing in a distal direction. 14. The catheter of claim 12 , wherein the coil defines a helix defining a helical gap having a continuous width along a length of the coil, the plurality of gaps comprising the helical gap. 15. The catheter of claim 1 , wherein the polymeric material disposed within the gaps comprises a proximal polymeric material portion and a distal polymeric material portion, the distal polymeric material portion being positioned between the proximal polymeric material portion and a distal end of the catheter body, the proximal polymeric material portion being stiffer than the distal polymeric material portion. 16. The catheter of claim 15 , wherein a thickness of each of the proximal polymeric material portion and the distal polymeric material portion is greater than or equal to a thickness of the metallic member. 17. The catheter of claim 15 , wherein the proximal polymeric material portion and the distal polymeric material portion each comprise an adhesive. 18. The catheter of claim 15 , wherein the proximal polymeric material portion comprises a first proximal layer of adhesive and the distal polymeric material portion comprises a first distal layer of adhesive, the catheter body further comprising: a second proximal layer of adhesive; an intermediate layer of adhesive; and a second distal layer of adhesive, the intermediate layer of adhesive being positioned between the second proximal layer of adhesive and the second distal layer of adhesive. 19. The catheter of claim 18 , wherein the second distal layer of adhesive is disposed over the intermediate layer of adhesive. 20. The catheter of claim 18 , further comprising a ring of ultraviolet (UV) adhesive between the second proximal layer of adhesive and the intermediate layer of adhesive. 21. A catheter comprising: a catheter body comprising: an inner liner defining an inner lumen; a coil defining a plurality of gaps; a polymeric material disposed within the gaps, wherein the polymeric material comprises a proximal polymeric material portion and a distal polymeric material portion, the distal polymeric material portion being positioned between the proximal polymeric material portion and a distal end of the catheter body, wherein the proximal polymeric material portion is stiffer than the distal polymeric material portion; and an outer cover positioned radially outward of the inner liner, wherein the coil and the polymeric material are positioned between the inner liner and the outer cover, the polymeric material being different from a material of the inner liner and a material of the outer cover, and wherein the outer cover comprises: a proximal outer cover; and a distal outer cover distal to the proximal outer cover and positioned over at least part of the proximal outer cover. 22. The catheter of claim 21 , wherein a distal region of the catheter body has an inner diameter to wall thickness ratio greater than or equal to 16:1. 23. The catheter of claim 21 , further comprising a polymeric layer disposed between the coil and the distal outer cover, wherein the polymeric layer is positioned over a distal end of the coil. 24. A method comprising: forming a catheter body, wherein forming the catheter body comprises: positioning a metallic member over an inner liner, the inner liner defining an inner lumen; disposing polymeric material within gaps of the metallic member; and disposing an outer cover over the metallic member and the polymeric material, wherein the polymeric material is different from a material of the inner liner and a material of the outer cover, wherein the outer cover comprises a proximal outer cover and a distal outer over, wherein disposing the outer cover over the metallic member and the polymeric material comprises: positioning the proximal outer cover over the metallic member and the polymeric material; and positioning the distal outer cover over the metallic member and the polymeric material distal to the proximal outer cover and over at least part of the proximal outer cover, wherein a distal region of the catheter body has an inner diameter to wall thickness ratio greater than or equal to 16:1. 25. The method of claim 24 , further comprising positioning a polymeric layer over the metallic member prior to positioning the distal outer cover over the metallic member.
