What is claimed is: 1. A method for inhibiting or treating a mollusk infestation in soil comprising applying to the soil an effective amount of a composition comprising one or more isolated Phasmarhabditis nematodes that have been cultured with a nematode growth promoting bacterium, and a suitable carrier or encapsulation agent, wherein at least one of the isolated nematodes is Phasmarhabditis californica , and wherein the growth-promoting bacterium comprises Alcaligenes faecalis, Bacillus safensis , or Ochrobactrum sp. 2. The method of claim 1 wherein the mollusk is C. aspersum, D. reticulatum, L. flavus, L. valentiana or L. fulica. 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the composition is applied before soil cultivating, preplant, or during planting. 4. The method of claim 1 wherein the composition further includes P. hermaphrodita, P. neopapillosa or P. papillosa. 5. The method of claim 1 wherein therein the growth-promoting bacterium comprises Alcaligenes faecalis , or Ochrobactrum sp. 6. The method of claim 1 wherein the carrier comprises clay. 7. The method of claim 1 wherein the composition is in the form of a water-dispersable powder. 8. The method of claim 1 wherein the carrier is calcium montmorillonite clay, and the nematode concentration is from about 0.1×10 6 to about 2.0×10 6 per gram of total composition (wet weight). 9. The method of claim 8 wherein the nematode concentration is from about 0.3×10 6 to about 1.6×10 6 per gram of the total composition (wet weight). 10. The method of claim 1 wherein the composition further comprises P. hermaphrodita but does not comprise Moraxella osloensis. 11. The method of claim 1 wherein the effective amount treat the infestation.
