Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Various embodiments enable an application on a first device to log into an online meeting in association with a trusted entity, such as a trusted user. Once trust is established between the trusted entity and the meeting domain, such as an enterprise domain, permissions can be assigned to a meeting device, by virtue of the trust relationship with the trusted entity, to enable the meeting device to join the meeting as a participant, thus allowing the meeting device to bypass an initial join process such as a meeting lobby and the like. By virtue of the assigned permissions, the meeting device may take control of the meeting and control the experience for others in the meeting as a meeting organizer or some other permission-centric role.

What is claimed is: 1. A method for providing a meeting service for an online meeting, the method comprising: conducting an online meeting by processing audio communications between a plurality of devices including a first participant computing device; authenticating the first participant computing device to the online meeting; after authenticating with the first participant computing device, receiving over a network from the first participant computing device that is already authenticated with the online communication session, admission information, the admission information comprising an indication that a second participant computing device has established that it is within a locational proximity with the first participant computing device; responsive to receiving the admission information, admitting the second participant computing device to join the online meeting based upon the received indication and the previous authentication of the first participant computing device, the second participant computing device not authorized to be admitted to join the online meeting prior to having first established the locational proximity with the first participant computing device; and responsive to admitting the second participant computing device to join the online meeting, providing audio communications of the online meeting from the plurality of devices to the second participant computing device. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises: receiving a secret from the first participant computing device, the secret provided by the second participant computing device to the first participant computing device during establishment of the locational proximity; validating that the secret is correct using a database lookup; and responsive to validating that the secret is correct, transmitting the secret to the second participant computing device. 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the secret is a PIN. 4. The method of claim 2 , wherein the secret is a token. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second participant computing device is admitted with a same role as the first participant computing device. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the role is a presenter role, the presenter role not given to at least one participant of the online meeting. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein admitting the second participant computing device to the online meeting comprises admitting the second participant computing device by allowing the second participant computing device to bypass a staging area associated with the online meeting. 8. A computing device for providing a meeting service for an online meeting, the computing device comprising: means for conducting an online meeting by processing audio communications between a plurality of devices including a first participant computing device; means for authenticating the first participant computing device to the online meeting; means for receiving, after authenticating with the first participant computing device and over a network from the first participant computing device that is already authenticated with the online communication session, admission information, the admission information comprising an indication that a second participant computing device has established that it is within a locational proximity with the first participant computing device; means for admitting, responsive to receiving the admission information, the second participant computing device to join the online meeting based upon the received indication and the previous authentication of the first participant computing device, the second participant computing device not authorized to be admitted to the online meeting prior to having first established the locational proximity with the first participant computing device; and responsive to admitting the second participant computing device to join the online meeting, providing audio communications of the online meeting from the plurality of devices to the second participant computing device. 9. The computing device of claim 8 , wherein the device further comprises: means for receiving a secret from the first participant computing device, the secret provided by the second participant computing device to the first participant computing device during establishment of the locational proximity; means for validating that the secret is correct using a database lookup; and responsive to validating that the secret is correct, means for transmitting the secret to the second participant computing device. 10. The computing device of claim 9 , wherein the secret is a PIN. 11. The computing device of claim 9 , wherein the secret is a token. 12. The computing device of claim 8 , wherein the second participant computing device is admitted with a same role as the first participant computing device. 13. The computing device of claim 8 , wherein the role is a presenter role, the presenter role not given to at least one participant of the online meeting. 14. A computing device for providing a meeting service for an online meeting, the computing device comprising: at least one hardware processor; a memory, comprising instructions, which when performed by the hardware processor, cause the computing device to perform operations comprising: conducting an online meeting by processing audio communications between a plurality of devices including a first participant computing device; authenticating the first participant computing device to the online meeting; after authenticating with the first participant computing device, receiving over a network from the first participant computing device that is already authenticated with the online communication session, admission information, the admission information comprising an indication that a second participant computing device has established that it is within a locational proximity with the first participant computing device; responsive to receiving the admission information, admitting the second participant computing device to join the online meeting based upon the received indication and the previous authentication of the first participant computing device, the second participant computing device not authorized to be admitted to join the online meeting prior to having first established the locational proximity with the first participant computing device; and responsive to admitting the second participant computing device to join the online meeting, providing audio communications of the online meeting from the plurality of devices to the second participant computing device. 15. The computing device of claim 14 , wherein the operations further comprise: receiving a secret from the first participant computing device, the secret provided by the second participant computing device to the first participant computing device during establishment of the locational proximity; validating that the secret is correct using a database lookup; and responsive to validating that the secret is correct, transmitting the secret to the second participant computing device. 16. The computing device of claim 15 , wherein the secret is a PIN. 17. The computing device of claim 15 , wherein the secret is a token. 18. The computing device of claim 14 , wherein the second participant computing device is admitted with a same role as the first participant computing device. 19. The computing device of claim 14 , wherein the role is a presenter role, the presenter role not given to at least one participant of the online meeting. 20. The
