Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A system and method for triggering on platform usage can include at a platform, receiving and storing a trigger configuration of an account; operating a platform comprising internally executing a process on behalf of an account and publishing at least one event when executing the process; at the platform, incrementing a counter in response to the at least one event and if the stored trigger configuration species a usage key associated with a category of counted events of the at least one event; monitoring counters in a context of an associated trigger; and processing the trigger upon the counter satisfying condition of an associated trigger.

What is claimed is: 1. A method comprising: receiving, from a computing system associated with a first account of a communication system, a first set of communication trigger configurations for the first account of a communication system, the external computing system being separate from the communication system, the communication system facilitating communication sessions for the first account; establishing at least a first usage trigger in relation to the first account based on the first set of communication trigger configurations, the first usage trigger being based on a first event, a threshold, and an action defined by the first set of communication trigger configurations, the first event being an action performed in relation to communication sessions facilitated by the communication system for the first account; in response to detecting an occurrence of the first event in relation to a first communication session facilitated by the communication system for the first account, incrementing a counter associated with the first usage trigger; determining whether the counter associated with the first usage trigger meets or exceeds the threshold defined by the first set of communication trigger configurations; and in response to determining that the counter associated with the first usage trigger meets or exceeds the threshold defined by the first set of communication trigger configurations, executing the action defined by the first set of communication trigger configurations. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first event is an incoming call. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first event is an incoming messaging service message. 4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: receiving a second set of communication trigger configurations for the first account of the communication system; establishing a second usage trigger in relation to the first account based on the second set of communication trigger configurations, the second usage trigger being based on a second event, a second threshold, and a second action defined by the second set of communication trigger configurations, wherein the second event is different than the first event; in response to detecting an occurrence of the second event in relation to a second communication session facilitated by the communication system for the first account, incrementing a second counter associated with the second usage trigger; determining whether the second counter associated with the second usage trigger meets or exceeds the second threshold defined by the second set of communication trigger configurations; and in response to determining that the second counter associated with the second usage trigger meets or exceeds the second threshold defined by the second set of communication trigger configurations, executing the second action defined by the second set of communication trigger configurations. 5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: receiving a second set of communication trigger configurations for a second account of the communication system, the second account being different than the first account; establishing a second usage trigger in relation to the second account based on the second set of communication trigger configurations for the second account of the communication system, the second usage trigger being based on a second event, a second threshold, and a second action defined by the second set of communication trigger configurations; in response to detecting an occurrence of the second event in relation to a second communication session facilitated by the communication system for the second account, incrementing a second counter associated with the second usage trigger; determining whether the second counter associated with the second usage trigger meets or exceeds the second threshold defined by the second set of communication trigger configurations; and in response to determining that the second counter associated with the second usage trigger meets or exceeds the second threshold defined by the second set of communication trigger configurations, executing the second action defined by the second set of communication trigger configurations. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein executing the first action comprises: transmitting a notification to a destination defined by an identifier included in the first set of communication trigger configurations, the notification indicating that the counter associated with the first usage trigger meets or exceeds the threshold defined by the first set of communication trigger configurations. 7. A system comprising: one or more computer processors; and one or more computer-readable mediums storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more computer processors, cause the system to perform operations comprising: receiving, from a computing system associated with a first account of a communication system, a first set of communication trigger configurations for the first account of a communication system, the computing system being separate from the communication system, the communication system facilitating communication sessions for the first account; establishing at least a first usage trigger in relation to the first account based on the first set of communication trigger configurations, the first usage trigger being based on a first event, a threshold, and an action defined by the first set of communication trigger configurations, the first event being an action performed in relation to communication sessions facilitated by the communication system for the first account; in response to detecting an occurrence of the first event in relation to a first communication session facilitated by the communication system for the first account, incrementing a counter associated with the first usage trigger; determining whether the counter associated with the first usage trigger meets or exceeds the threshold defined by the first set of communication trigger configurations; and in response to determining that the counter associated with the first usage trigger meets or exceeds the threshold defined by the first set of communication trigger configurations, executing the action defined by the first set of communication trigger configurations. 8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the first event is an incoming call. 9. The system of claim 7 , wherein the first event is an incoming messaging service message. 10. The system of claim 7 , the operations further comprising: receiving a second set of communication trigger configurations for the first account of the communication system; establishing a second usage trigger in relation to the first account based on the second set of communication trigger configurations, the second usage trigger being based on a second event, a second threshold, and a second action defined by the second set of communication trigger configurations, wherein the second event is different than the first event; in response to detecting an occurrence of the second event in relation to a second communication session facilitated by the communication system for the first account, incrementing a second counter associated with the second usage trigger; determining whether the second counter associated with the second usage trigger meets or exceeds the second threshold defined by the second set of communication trigger configurations; and in response to determining that the second counter associated with the second usage trigger meets or exceeds the second threshold defined by the second set of communication trigger configurations, executing the second action defined by the second set of communication trigger configurations. 11. The system of claim 7 , t
