Provided are an ORF7 deficient varicella virus, an vaccine comprising the virus and use thereof, as well as a method for the production the virus.

What is claimed is: 1. A vaccine against varicella and/or herpes zoster, comprising a varicella virus, and an excipient or carrier acceptable in vaccines, wherein the ORF7 of said varicella virus is replaced by SEQ ID NO:13 so that the resulting virus is unable to infect human skin or sensory ganglion. 2. The vaccine according to claim 1 , wherein the varicella virus is the varicella virus deposited in China General Microbiological Culture Collection Center, Institute of Microbiology Chinese Academy of Sciences, NO. 1 West Beichen Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing 100101, China on Jul. 28, 2009 with deposit number CGMCC No. 3207. 3. A method of inducing an immune response against varicella and/or herpes zoster, comprising administering a prophylactic effective amount of the vaccine according to claim 1 . 4. An immunogenic composition comprising a prophylactic effective amount of the vaccine according to claim 1 .
