Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A storage and dispensing station for a blister packaging machine for drug portions includes a base electrically coupled to the blister packaging machine and configured to dissipate an electrical charge to the blister packaging machine. A storage container is disposed on the base and includes a housing defining a receiving chamber for drug portions, a cylindrical receiving chamber and a bottom surface. A singulating device is rotatably disposed in the cylindrical receiving chamber and has multiple channels extending along the singulating device and parallel with a rotational axis of the singulating device. The singulating device also includes an electrically conductive coupling and a drive for rotating the singulating device. The singulating device is electrically conductive at least at an outer surface of the singulating device, and the outer surface comes into contact with drug portions. A conductor device provides an electrically conductive coupling between the outer surface and an electrical contact.

What is claimed is: 1. A storage and dispensing station for drug portions, comprising: a base; a storage container disposed on the base, the storage container including a housing defining a receiving chamber for drug portions, a cylindrical receiving chamber and a bottom surface; a singulating device rotatably disposed in the cylindrical receiving chamber, the singulating device including a plurality of channels extending along the singulating device and parallel with a rotational axis of the singulating device; a drive for rotating the singulating device; and a conductor device providing an electrically conductive coupling between the singulating device and a contact configured to dissipate an electrical charge. 2. The storage and dispensing station of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the bottom surface and a surface of the housing that comes into contact with drug portions is electrically conductive and electrically coupled to the contact. 3. The storage and dispensing station of claim 1 , wherein the contact includes a ground wire coupled to a motor of the drive. 4. The storage and dispensing station of claim 1 , wherein an outer surface of the singulating device includes a planar conductive coating. 5. The storage and dispensing station of claim 1 , wherein the conductor device includes a slip ring disposed in a housing section and a contact element disposed in the singulating device. 6. The storage and dispensing station of claim 1 , wherein the conductor device includes a slip ring disposed in the bottom surface and a contact element disposed in the singulating device. 7. The storage and dispensing station of claim 1 , wherein at least an outer surface of the singulating device includes an electrically conductive material. 8. The storage and dispensing station of claim 7 , wherein the electrically conductive material is plastic. 9. The storage and dispensing station of claim 1 , wherein the conductor device includes an electrically conductive drive hub, an electrically conductive drive shaft and an electrically conductive motor. 10. The storage and dispensing station of claim 9 , wherein an outer surface of the singulating device is coupled in an electrically conductive manner to one or more of the electrically conductive drive hub, electrically conductive drive shaft and electrically conductive motor. 11. The storage and dispensing station of claim 10 , wherein the electrically conductive motor is coupled in an electrically conductive manner to the contact. 12. The storage and dispensing station of claim 1 , wherein the singulating device is comprised entirely of an electrically conductive material. 13. The storage and dispensing station of claim 12 , wherein the electrically conductive material is plastic. 14. The storage and dispensing station of claim 1 , further comprising a coupling disposed between the singulating device and the drive. 15. The storage and dispensing station of claim 14 , wherein the coupling is electrically conductive and is electrically connected to an outer surface of the singulating device. 16. A storage and dispensing station for drug portions, comprising: a base; a storage container; a contact configured to dissipate an electrical charge from the storage and dispensing station; and a singulating device disposed at least partially within the storage container, the singulating device having an electrically conductive outer surface configured to come into contact with drug portions disposed within the storage container. 17. The storage and dispensing station of claim 16 , further comprising: a drive; and a coupling disposed between the singulating device and the drive, wherein the coupling is electrically conductive and is electrically connected to the electrically conductive outer surface of the singulating device. 18. The storage and dispensing station of claim 16 , further comprising a conductor device providing an electrically conductive coupling between the singulating device and the contact, wherein the conductor device includes a contact element disposed in the singulating device and a slip ring disposed in one of a bottom surface and a housing section of the storage container, and wherein an electrical connection is formed between the contact element and the slip ring. 19. The storage and dispensing station of claim 16 , further comprising a conductor device providing an electrically conductive coupling between the singulating device and the contact, wherein the conductor device includes an electrically conductive drive hub, an electrically conductive drive shaft and an electrically conductive motor, wherein the electrically conductive outer surface is coupled in an electrically conductive manner to one or more of the electrically conductive drive hub, electrically conductive drive shaft and electrically conductive motor, and wherein the electrically conductive motor is coupled in an electrically conductive manner to the contact. 20. The storage and dispensing station of claim 19 , wherein the storage and dispensing station is configured to: transfer an electrostatic charge from the electrically conductive outer surface of the singulating device to the electrically conductive coupling; transfer the electrostatic charge from the electrically conductive coupling to at least one of the electrically conductive drive hub and the electrically conductive drive shaft; transfer the electrostatic charge from the at least one of the electrically conductive drive hub and the electrically conductive drive shaft to the electrically conductive motor; transfer the electrostatic charge from the electrically conductive motor to the contact; and transfer the electrostatic charge from the contact to a device external to the storage and dispensing station.
