A spinal management system includes a stabilizing member adapted to extend substantially longitudinally along a target region of a spine tending to exhibit a defective curvature and a set of stabilizing anchors adapted for fixation to vertebrae and to receive the stabilizing member to secure the stabilizing member against substantial transverse translation relative to the vertebrae. The system also includes a first correction anchor adapted for fixation to a vertebra, a second correction anchor adapted for fixation to a vertebra, and a connection between the stabilizing member and the first correction anchor and between the first and second correction anchors adapted such that when the connection is tensioned a compressive force is selectively exerted between the first and second correction anchors.

What is claimed is: 1. A spinal management system comprising: a rigid stabilizing member having a first end portion configured to be secured to a first vertebra by a first anchor and a second end portion configured to be secured to a second vertebra by a second anchor such that the stabilizing member extends longitudinally along a region of a spine and is prevented from transverse translation relative to the spine; a first correction anchor configured to be secured to a third vertebra; a first tensioner secured to the stabilizing member; and a first connector having a first segment secured to the first tensioner, a second segment constrained by the first correction anchor, and a third segment operably coupled to the stabilizing member, the second segment disposed between the first and third segments. 2. The spinal management system according to claim 1 , further comprising: a second correction anchor configured to be secured to a fourth vertebra, a second end portion of the stabilizing member secured to the second correction anchor such that the second end portion of the stabilizing member is prevented from transverse translation relative to the fourth vertebra; and a third correction anchor configured to be secured to a fifth vertebra, a third end portion of the stabilizing member secured to the third correction anchor such that the third end portion of the stabilizing member is prevented from transverse translation relative to the fifth vertebra. 3. The spinal management system according to claim 1 , wherein the first tensioner is secured to the stabilizing member at a first position and the third segment of the first connector is operably coupled with the stabilizing member at a second position, the first correction anchor longitudinally positioned between the first and second positions. 4. The spinal management system according to claim 3 , further comprising a second correction anchor configured to be secured to a fourth vertebra, the third segment of the first connector coupled to the second correction anchor. 5. The spinal management system according to claim 4 , wherein the third vertebra is positioned between the fourth vertebra and a fifth vertebra. 6. The spinal management system according to claim 4 , wherein the third segment includes an end piece configured to retain the third segment within the second correction anchor. 7. The spinal management system according to claim 4 , further comprising a second connector extending between the second position on the stabilizing member and the second correction anchor. 8. The spinal management system according to claim 7 , further comprising a second tensioner secured to the stabilizing member at the second position, the second connector extending between the second tensioner and the second correction anchor. 9. The spinal management system according to claim 8 , further comprising a third connector having a fourth segment secured to the second tensioner, a fifth segment constrained by the first correction anchor, and a sixth segment operably coupled to the stabilizing member, the fifth segment disposed between the fourth and sixth segments. 10. The spinal management system according to claim 9 , further comprising a third correction anchor configured to be secured to a fifth vertebra such that the first correction anchor is positioned between the second and third correction anchors, the sixth segment of the third connector passing through a head of the third correction anchor. 11. The spinal management system according to claim 10 , wherein the sixth segment of the third connector is operably coupled with the first position on the stabilizing member. 12. The spinal management system according to claim 4 , wherein the third segment passes through a head of the second correction anchor. 13. The spinal management system according to claim 1 , wherein the second segment passes through a head of the first correction anchor. 14. The spinal management system according to claim 1 , wherein the second segment passes around a head of the first correction anchor. 15. A spinal management system comprising: a first anchor configured to be secured to a first vertebra; a second anchor configured to be secured to a second vertebra; a stabilizing member having a first end portion secured to the first anchor and a second end portion secured to the second anchor such that the stabilizing member extends longitudinally along a region of a spine, the first and second anchors configured to prevent transverse translation of the stabilizing member relative to the spine; a first correction anchor configured to be secured to a third vertebra positioned between the first and second vertebrae; a second correction anchor configured to be secured to a fourth vertebra positioned between the second and third vertebrae; a first tensioner secured to the stabilizing member at a first position longitudinally disposed between the first anchor and the first correction anchor; and a first connector having a first segment secured to the first tensioner, a second segment constrained by the first correction anchor, and a third segment coupled to the second correction anchor. 16. The spinal management system according to claim 15 , further comprising a second tensioner secured to the stabling member at a second position longitudinally disposed between the first correction anchor and the second anchor. 17. The spinal management system according to claim 16 , further comprising a second connector extending between the second tensioner and the second correction anchor. 18. The spinal management system according to claim 17 , further comprising: a third correction anchor configured to be secured to a fifth vertebra positioned between the first and third vertebrae such that the first correction anchor is positioned between the second and third correction anchors; and a third connector having a fourth segment secured to the second tensioner, a fifth segment constrained by the first correction anchor, and a sixth segment passing through a head of the third correction anchor. 19. The spinal management system according to claim 18 , further comprising a fourth connector extending between the first tensioner and the third correction anchor. 20. A spinal management system comprising: a stabilizing member having a first end portion configured to be secured to a first vertebra by a first anchor and a second end portion configured to be secured to a second vertebra by a second anchor such that the stabilizing member extends longitudinally along a region of a spine and is prevented from transverse translation relative to the spine; a first correction anchor configured to be secured to a third vertebra; a first tensioner secured to the stabilization member at a first position longitudinally disposed between the first anchor and the first correction anchor; and a first connector having a first segment secured to the first tensioner, a second segment constrained by the first correction anchor, and a third segment operably coupled to the stabilizing member, the second segment disposed between the first and third segments.
