The disclosed subject matter provides N-hydroxylsulfonamide derivative compounds of formulae (I), (II) or (III) as drawn below, pharmaceutical compositions comprising such compounds, kits comprising such compounds, and methods of using such compounds or pharmaceutical compositions. In particular, the disclosed subject matter provides methods of using such compounds or pharmaceutical compositions for treating heart failure.

What is claimed is: 1. A compound, wherein the compound is: or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 2. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound of claim 1 , and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient. 3. A kit for treating a disease or condition responsive to nitroxyl therapy comprising a compound of claim 1 ; and instructions for use of the kit. 4. A method of treating a cardiovascular disease responsive to nitroxyl therapy, comprising administering an effective amount of the compound of claim 1 , to a patient in need thereof.
