Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

In some embodiments, a system for scoring products for a customer based on derived subjective attributes for products and derived subjective attributes for customers comprises a product attribute determination module configured to determine a subjective attribute for one or more products, determine objective data, calculate an impact of the objective data on the subjective attribute, receive objective data for a new product, determine to what degree the new product satisfies the subjective attribute, a customer attribute determination module configured to derive a subjective attribute for a specific customer, a scoring module configured to calculate a score for the one or more products and the new product and a presentation module configured to prepare at least some of the one or more products and the new product including an indication of the score for the at least some of the one or more products and the new product.

What is claimed is: 1. A system for scoring products for a customer based on derived subjective attributes for products and derived subjective attributes for the customer, the system comprising: a control circuit configured to calculate scores for products, the control circuit comprising: a product attribute determination module, wherein the product attribute determination module is configured to: determine, based on received data, a subjective attribute for one or more products, wherein each of the one or more products belongs to a category of products; determine, for each of the one or more products, objective data; calculate, based on the objective data for each of the one or more products and the subjective attribute for the one or more products, an impact of the objective data on the subjective attribute; receive objective data for a new product, wherein the new product belongs to the category of products; determine, based on the objective data for the new product, to what degree the new product satisfies the subjective attribute; a customer attribute determination module, wherein the customer attribute determination module is configured to: derive, based on objective data for multiple customers, a subjective attribute for a specific customer; a scoring module, wherein the scoring module is configured to: calculate, based on the subjective attribute for the one or more products and the subjective attribute for the specific customer, a score for the one or more products and the new product, wherein the score indicates how desirable a product would be for the specific customer; and a presentation module, wherein the presentation module is configured to: prepare, for presentation via a display device, at least some of the one or more products and the new product including an indication of the score for the at least some of the one or more products and the new product, wherein the indication of the score for the at least some of the one or more products and the new product is presented via a graphical user interface (GUI). 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the objective data for the new product is received from one or more of a manufacturer, a website, a seller, observed behaviors and trends, and in house calculations. 3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the product attribute determination module is further configured to: collect, from a website, the received data. 4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the received data includes one or more of user reviews, question and answer sections, and professional product reviews. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the objective data for multiple customers is received from the multiple customers. 6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the objective data for multiple customers is received from the multiple customers via a survey. 7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the specific customer is one of the multiple customers. 8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the objective data for multiple customers includes one or more of demographic information for the multiple customers, purchase history for the multiple customers, and family information for the multiple customers. 9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the subjective attribute for one or more products relates to one or more of a lifestyle, a preference, an aversion, and hobbies. 10. The system of claim 1 , further comprising: the display device, wherein the display device is configured to present the GUI including the at least some of the one or more products and the new product including an indication of the score for the at least some of the one or more products and the new product. 11. A method for scoring products based on derived subjective attributes for products and derived subjective attributes for the customer, the method comprising: determining, by a product attribute determination module of a control circuit based on received data, a subjective attribute for one or more products, wherein each of the one or more products belongs to a category of products; determining, by the product attribute determination module for each of the one or more products, objective data; calculating, by the product attribute determination module for each of the one or more products and the subjective attribute for the one or more products, an impact of the objective data on the subjective attribute; receiving, by the product attribute determination module, objective data for a new product, wherein the new product belongs to the category of products; determining, by the product attribute determination module based on the objective data for the new product, to what degree the new product satisfies the subjective attribute; deriving, by a customer attribute determination module of the control circuit based on objective data for multiple customers, a subjective attribute for a specific customer; calculating, by a scoring module of the control circuit based on the subjective attribute for the one or more products and the subjective attribute for the specific customer, a score for the one or more products and the new product, wherein the score indicates how desirable a product would be for the specific customer; and preparing, by a presentation module of the control circuit for presentation via a display device, at least some of the one or more products and the new product including an indication of the score for the at least some of the one or more products and the new product, wherein the indication of the score for the at least some of the one or more products and the new product is presented via a graphical user interface (GUI). 12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the objective data for the new product is received from one or more of a manufacturer, a web site, a seller, observed behaviors and trends, and in house calculations. 13. The method of claim 11 , further comprising: collecting, by the product attribute determination module from a website, the received data. 14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the received data includes one or more of user reviews, question and answer sections, and professional product reviews. 15. The method of claim 11 , wherein the objective data for multiple customers is received from the multiple customers. 16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the objective data for multiple customers is received from the multiple customers via a survey. 17. The method of claim 11 , wherein the specific customer is one of the multiple customers. 18. The method of claim 11 , wherein the objective data for multiple customers includes one or more of demographic information for the multiple customers, purchase history for the multiple customers, and family information for the multiple customers. 19. The method of claim 11 , wherein the subjective attribute for one or more products relates to one or more of a lifestyle, a preference, an aversion, and hobbies. 20. The method of claim 11 , further comprising: presenting, via the display device, the GUI including the at least some of the one or more products and the new product including an indication of the score for the at least some of the one or more products and the new product.
