Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A system for adapting a driving behavior of an autonomous driving system of a vehicle. The system includes a sensor, a braking system, an acceleration control system, a steering system, and an electronic processor. The electronic processor is configured to receive data from the sensor, send the data to a server, and send, to the server, a request for a value associated with an action the vehicle is performing and a location of the vehicle. The electronic processor is also configured to receive the value from the server and adapt the driving behavior of the autonomous driving system of the vehicle based on the value by controlling at least one selected from a group comprising the braking system, the acceleration control system, and the steering system.

What is claimed is: 1. A system for adapting a driving behavior of an autonomous driving system of a vehicle, the system comprising a sensor; a braking system; an acceleration control system; a steering system; and an electronic processor, configured to receive data from the sensor; send the data to a server; send, to the server, a request for a value, wherein the value describes an average driving behavior associated with an action the vehicle is performing and a location of the vehicle; receive the value from the server; adapt the driving behavior of the vehicle based on the value received from the server so that a value representing the driving behavior of the vehicle matches the value received from the server by controlling at least one selected from a group comprising the braking system, the acceleration control system, and the steering system. 2. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the driving behavior is a cut-in behavior and the action is a cut-in. 3. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the value is computed from historical data and the received data associated with the action and the location. 4. The system according to claim 3 , wherein the server is configured to organize the data based on the location of the vehicle and the driving behavior of the vehicle and generate the average value for each action at each location based on the historical data the server has received from a plurality of vehicles over time. 5. The system according to claim 3 , wherein the electronic processor is configured to execute an electronic horizon software application stored in a memory connected to the electronic processor. 6. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the location includes a geographical location of the vehicle and a type of road the vehicle is traveling on. 7. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the data includes values representing the driving behavior for the action the vehicle is performing and each action other vehicles surrounding the vehicle are performing. 8. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the driving behavior is a following behavior. 9. A method of adapting a driving behavior of an autonomous driving system of a vehicle, the method comprising receiving, from a sensor, data; sending the data to a server; sending, to the server, a request for a value associated with an action the vehicle is performing and a location of the vehicle; receiving the value from the server, wherein the value describes an average driving behavior for the action the vehicle is performing in the location of the vehicle; and adapting the driving behavior of the vehicle so that a value representing the driving behavior of the vehicle matches the value received from the server by controlling at least one selected from a group comprising a braking system, an acceleration control system, and a steering system. 10. The method according to claim 9 , wherein adapting a driving behavior of an autonomous driving system of a vehicle includes adapting a cut-in behavior. 11. The method according to claim 9 , wherein receiving the value from the server includes receiving a value computed from historical data and the received data associated with the action and the location. 12. The method according to claim 11 , the method further comprising organizing, with the server, the data based on the location of the vehicle and the driving behavior of the vehicle and generating the average value for each action at each location based on the historical data the server has received from a plurality of vehicles over time. 13. The method according to claim 9 , wherein sending, to the server, a request for a value associated with an action the vehicle is performing and a location of the vehicle includes sending, to the server, a geographical location of the vehicle and a type of road the vehicle is traveling on. 14. The method according to claim 9 , wherein sending the data to a server includes sending values representing the driving behavior for the action the vehicle is performing and each action other vehicles surrounding the vehicle are performing. 15. The method according to claim 9 , wherein adapting a driving behavior of an autonomous driving system of a vehicle includes adapting a following behavior. 16. A system for adapting a driving behavior of an autonomous driving system of a vehicle, the system comprising a sensor; a braking system; an acceleration control system; a steering system; and an electronic processor, configured to receive data from the sensor; compute, based on the received data, a value that describes an average driving behavior associated with a driver for each action the autonomous driving system is capable of performing; adapt the driving behavior of the vehicle so that a value representing the driving behavior of the vehicle matches the value describing the average driving behavior by controlling at least one selected from a group comprising the braking system, the acceleration control system, and the steering system. 17. The system according to claim 16 , wherein the driving behavior is a cut-in behavior.
