Compositions comprising hydroxy functional alkyl polyureas are disclosed.

What is claimed is: 1. A composition that comprises a compound having a hydroxy functional alkyl polyurea and/or hydroxy functional alkyl polyurea moiety having the formula: wherein R 2 comprises a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 to C 36 alkyl group, an aromatic group, an isocyanurate moiety, biuret moiety, allophonate moiety, glycoluril moiety, benzoguanamine moiety, polyetheramine moiety, and/or polymeric moiety different from a polyetheramine and having an Mn of 500 or greater; wherein each R 1 is independently a hydrogen, alkyl having at least 1 carbon, or a hydroxy functional alkyl having 2 or more carbons and at least one R 1 is a hydroxy functional alkyl having 2 or more carbons; and n is 2-6; wherein the polyurea is present in the composition in an amount of 0.5 to 10 weight percent based on total solid weight. 2. The composition of claim 1 , wherein R 2 comprises an isocyanurate moiety. 3. The composition of claim 1 , wherein at least one R 1 comprises a 2-hydroxyethyl or 2-hydroxypropyl group. 4. A composition comprising a. a film-forming resin; b. a crosslinker that reacts with the film-forming resin; and c. a compound having a hydroxy functional alkyl polyurea and/or hydroxy functional alkyl polyurea moiety having the formula wherein R 2 comprises a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 to C 36 alkyl group, an aromatic group, an isocyanurate moiety, biuret moiety, allophonate moiety, glycoluril moiety, benzoguanamine moiety, polyetheramine moiety, and/or polymeric moiety different from a polyetheramine and having an Mn of 500 or greater; wherein each R 1 is independently a hydrogen, alkyl having at least 1 carbon, or a hydroxy functional alkyl having 2 or more carbons and at least one R 1 is a hydroxy functional alkyl having 2 or more carbons; and n is 2-6. 5. The composition of claim 4 , wherein R 2 comprises a substituted or unsubstituted C 2 -C 12 alkyl or aromatic group. 6. The composition of claim 4 , wherein R 2 comprises a substituted or unsubstituted C 6 alkyl group. 7. The composition of claim 4 , wherein R 1 comprises a 2-hydroxyethyl or 2-hydroxypropyl group. 8. The composition of claim 4 , wherein the composition is substantially formaldehyde free. 9. The composition of claim 4 , wherein the film-forming resin is an acid functional polyester resin. 10. The composition of claim 4 , wherein the crosslinker comprises hydroxy alkyl amide. 11. The composition of claim 4 , wherein the composition is formulated as a sound damping composition. 12. The composition of claim 4 , wherein the R 1 groups do not contain an ether linkage. 13. The composition of claim 4 , wherein the film forming resin comprises a polyolefin dispersion. 14. The composition of claim 4 , wherein the composition is formulated as a coating. 15. The composition of claim 14 , wherein the coating is a powder coating. 16. The composition of claim 4 , further comprising a catalyst. 17. The composition of claim 16 , wherein the catalyst comprises tin and/or titanium. 18. A substrate coated at least in part with the composition of claim 4 . 19. The substrate of claim 18 , wherein the substrate comprises a package. 20. The substrate of claim 18 , wherein the substrate comprises a metal can. 21. The substrate of claim 18 , wherein the substrate comprises a vehicle. 22. The substrate of claim 18 , wherein the substrate is rubber and/or plastic. 23. The substrate of claim 18 , wherein the substrate comprises a metal sheet or coil. 24. A polymer or oligomer comprising a repeat unit having a hydroxy functional alkyl polyurea of the formula: wherein R 11 is derived from a polymerizable moiety; wherein each R 1 is independently a hydrogen, an alkyl having at least 1 carbon, or a hydroxy functional alkyl having 2 or more carbons and at least one R 1 is a hydroxy functional alkyl having 2 or more carbons; and q is 1 or greater. 25. A composition comprising the polymer of claim 24 . 26. The composition of claim 25 , wherein R 11 has acid functionality to form a latex. 27. A substrate formed from a composition comprising: a) A composition that comprises a compound having a hydroxy functional alkyl polyurea and/or hydroxy functional alkyl polyurea moiety having the formula: wherein R 2 comprises a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 to C 36 alkyl group, an aromatic group, an isocyanurate moiety, biuret moiety, allophonate moiety, glycoluril moiety, benzoguanamine moiety, polyetheramine moiety, and/or polymeric moiety different from a polyetheramine and having an Mn of 500 or greater; wherein each R 1 is independently a hydrogen, alkyl having at least 1 carbon, or a hydroxy functional alkyl having 2 or more carbons and at least one R 1 is a hydroxy functional alkyl having 2 or more carbons; and n is 2-6; and b) wood particles.
