A toner includes toner particles, wherein the toner particles contain a polymer containing a structural unit derived from an azobenzene derivative having a polymerizable group.

First claim

Opening claim text (preview).

What is claimed is: 1. A toner comprising toner particles, wherein the toner particles contain a polymer containing a structural unit formed from a monomer having an azobenzene group and a polymerizable group, and the polymerizable group comprises a (meth)acryloyl group, an epoxy group, or a vinyl group. 2. The toner according to claim 1 , wherein the monomer has the polymerizable group as only one polymerizable group in one molecule. 3. The toner according to claim 1 , wherein the monomer has a group represented by any one of the following formulas (i) to (iii) as the polymerizable group: where R 1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, and R 2 represents an alkylene group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms. 4. The toner according to claim 1 , wherein the monomer is represented by the following formula (1): where any one of X 1 to X 3 represents the polymerizable group, and the remaining groups each represent a hydrogen atom, and R 3 to R 5 each represent a hydrogen atom, a functional group containing a hetero atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, or an alkoxy group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms. 5. The toner according to claim 4 , wherein the monomer is represented by the following formula (2): where X 1 represents the polymerizable group, and R 3 represents a hydrogen atom, a functional group containing a hetero atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, or an alkoxy group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms. 6. The toner according to claim 5 , wherein the monomer is represented by the following formula (3): where R 1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, R 2 represents an alkylene group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, and R 3 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or an alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms. 7. The toner according to claim 1 , wherein the polymer further contains a structural unit formed from a monomer having a styrene structure. 8. The toner according to claim 1 , further comprising a binder resin. 9. The toner according to claim 1 , optionally further comprising a binder resin, wherein a content ratio between the polymer and the binder resin is polymer:binder resin=60:40 to 100:0 (mass ratio). 10. An image forming method comprising: forming a toner image containing the toner according to claim 1 on a recording medium; and irradiating the toner image with light to soften the toner image. 11. The image forming method according to claim 10 , wherein the light has a wavelength of 280 nm or more and less than 480 nm. 12. The image forming method according to claim 10 , further comprising pressurizing the softened toner image. 13. The image forming method according to claim 12 , wherein the toner image is further heated in the pressurizing. 14. A toner comprising toner particles, wherein the toner particles contain a polymer containing a structural unit having an azobenzene group and having a number average molecular weight Mn of 3500 or more. 15. The toner according to claim 14 , further comprising a binder resin. 16. The toner according to claim 14 , optionally further comprising a binder resin, wherein a content ratio between the polymer and the binder resin is polymer: binder resin=60:40 to 100:0 (mass ratio). 17. An image forming method comprising: forming a toner image containing the toner according to claim 14 on a recording medium; and irradiating the toner image with light to soften the toner image.
