Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Methods and systems are disclosed for providing location services. Consistent with disclosed embodiments, disclosed systems and methods may include a beacon registering device for providing location services. The beacon registering device may include a non-transitory memory storing instructions. The beacon registering device may also include one or more processors that execute the stored instructions to perform operations comprising: receiving beacon information, the beacon information comprising connection information for a first beacon; updating at least one beacon entry stored in a database based on the received beacon information, the beacon entry including a beacon location, beacon connection information, and beacon metadata; receiving a beacon request from a user device, the beacon request indicating a user location; selecting beacons based on the beacon entry and the beacon request, the selected beacons including at least the first beacon; providing selected beacon information to the user device for registering the first beacon with the user device, the selected beacon information including the connection information for the first beacon.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. A computer-implemented method comprising steps performed by a user device for providing location services, the method comprising: transmitting, from the user device to a beacon registry, a beacon request comprising a detected user location; receiving, based on the beacon request, beacon information from the beacon registry, the beacon information including comprising communication information for a beacon selected based on confidence ratings of the beacon; registering the selected beacon using the communication information; receiving an indication from the registered beacon; and providing, based on the indication, a first user message to the beacon registry, the first user message comprising a request for location service information. 2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: providing a second user message to at least one of the beacon registry, the registered beacon, a beacon system, or a provider system based on the received indication; and receiving location services information in response to the second user message. 3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising: displaying, on a display of the user device, the received location services information. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the indication comprises a Universally Unique Identifier (UUID) of the registered beacon. 5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: receiving a provider trigger request from a provider system, the provider trigger request including comprising a provider trigger criterion and location services information; determining that the received indication satisfies the provider trigger criterion; and displaying, on a display of the user device, the location services information. 6. The method of claim 5 , wherein a location of the user device satisfies the provider trigger criterion. 7. The method of claim 5 , wherein at least one of a user location history or user metadata associated with the indication satisfies the provider trigger criterion. 8. The method of claim 5 , wherein a proximity of the user device to the registered beacon satisfies the provider triggercriterion. 9. The method of claim 5 , wherein a UUID of the registered beacon satisfies the provider trigger criterion. 10. A provider system for generating context-sensitive information, the provider system comprising: a non-transitory memory storing instructions; and one or more processors that execute the stored instructions to perform operations comprising: transmitting, from the provider system, a user information request to a beacon registering device, the beacon registering device being configured to store a location history and transaction history, associated with a user device; receiving, from the beacon registering device, user information determined based on analysis of the user location history and the transaction history; and transmitting, from the provider system to the user device, location service information based on the user information, the location service information comprising an offer targeted to a user of the user device based on the location history and the transaction history. 11. The provider system of claim 10 , wherein the operations further comprise: generating the offer based at least on the user information. 12. The provider system of claim 10 , wherein the operations further comprise: transmitting, from the provider system to the beacon registering device, a request for aggregate information; the aggregate information comprising information aggregated by the beacon registering device from user information in beacon requests received from a plurality of users to determine user demographics for a location; and receiving the determined user demographics for the location from the beacon registering device. 13. The provider system of claim 10 , wherein the user information request is directed towards a specific user of the location system, based on at least one of: a location history of the specific user, a transaction history of the specific user, or a social media activity of the specific user. 14. The provider system of claim 13 , wherein the operations further comprise: identifying the specific user as a customer of the provider system based on the user information. 15. The provider system of claim 13 , wherein the operations further comprise: identifying the specific user as a customer of a competitor of the provider system based on the user information. 16. The provider system of claim 10 , wherein the operations further comprise: transmitting, from the provider system to the beacon registering device, a trigger request including comprising a provider trigger criterion and location services information; receiving a trigger from the beacon registering device; and communicating with the user device in response to the trigger. 17. The provider system of claim 16 , wherein a location of the user device satisfies the provider trigger criterion. 18. The provider system of claim 16 , wherein at least one of the location history or user metadata associated with the indication satisfies the provider trigger criterion. 19. The provider system of claim 16 , wherein a proximity of the user device to the registered beacon satisfies the provider triggercriterion. 20. The provider system of claim 16 , wherein a UUID of the registered beacon satisfies the provider trigger criterion.
