A load control system may include control devices for controlling power provided to an electrical load. The control devices may include a control-source device and a control-target device. The control-target device may control the power provided to the electrical load based on digital messages received from the control-source device. The control devices may include a load control discovery device capable of sending discovery messages configured to discover control devices within a location. The discovered control devices may be organized by signal strength and may be provided to a network device to enable association of the discovered control devices within a location. The discovery messages may be transmitted within an established discovery range. The discovery range may be adjusted to discover different control devices. Different control devices may be identified as the load control discovery device for discovering different control devices.

The invention claimed is: 1. A system controller comprising: at least one communication circuit, wherein the at least one communication circuit is configured to send and receive digital messages; and a control circuit configured to: determine a load control discovery device, wherein the load control discovery device is one of a control-source device or a control-target device included in a plurality of control devices, wherein the control-target device is capable of controlling an amount of power provided to an electrical load at a location based on digital messages received from the control-source device; discover one or more of the plurality of control devices that received a discovery message from the load control discovery device; notify a network device of the discovered one or more of the plurality of control devices that received the discovery message; receive, via the at least one communication circuit, association information from the network device that indicates an association of at least one of the discovered one or more of the plurality of control devices with the location of the electrical load; and store the association information for enabling control of the electrical load at the location. 2. The system controller of claim 1 , wherein the control circuit is configured to: receive, via the at least one communication circuit, the discovery message from the load control discovery device, wherein the load control discovery device is determined based on the received discovery message from the load control discovery device; and discover the one or more of the plurality of control devices that received the discovery message based on an acknowledgement message from each control device of the discovered one or more of the plurality of control devices, wherein the acknowledgment message includes a device identifier of the control device. 3. The system controller of claim 2 , wherein the control circuit is configured to: send, via the communication circuit, a request for acknowledgment of receipt of the discovery message to the plurality of control devices; and receive the acknowledgement message in response to the request for acknowledgement of receipt of the discovery message. 4. The system controller of claim 2 , wherein the acknowledgement message from each control device of the discovered control devices includes a signal strength at which the control device received the discovery message. 5. The system controller of claim 4 , wherein the control circuit is configured to determine an organized dataset for the discovered one or more of the plurality of control devices based on the signal strength at which each control device of the discovered one or more of the plurality of control devices received the discovery message. 6. The system controller of claim 5 , wherein the organized dataset includes a predefined number of the discovered one or more of the plurality of control devices with a highest signal strength. 7. The system controller of claim 5 , wherein the organized dataset includes the discovered one or more of the plurality of control devices with the signal strength being above a predefined signal strength threshold. 8. The system controller of claim 1 , wherein the control circuit is configured to determine an indication of a discovery range for transmission of the discovery message and notify the load control discovery device of the discovery range. 9. The system controller of claim 1 , wherein the association information indicates at least one device with which the discovered one or more of the plurality of control devices are associated. 10. The system controller of claim 1 , wherein the control circuit is further configured to receive control configuration information from the network device. 11. The system controller of claim 1 , wherein the control circuit comprises a first control circuit configured to communicate with the plurality of control devices via a first communication channel and a second control circuit configured to communicate with the network device via a second communication channel. 12. The system controller of claim 1 , wherein the control circuit is configured to: send, via the communication circuit, a discovery trigger message to the load control discovery device; and receive a discovery message in response to the discovery trigger message. 13. A system controller comprising: at least one communication circuit, the at least one communication circuit configured to send and receive digital messages; and a control circuit configured to: determine a load control discovery device, the load control discovery device being one of a control-source device or a control-target device in a plurality of control devices, the load control discovery device configured to send a discovery message to the plurality of control devices; discover one or more of the plurality of control devices that received the discovery message from the load control discovery device above a predefined signal strength threshold; notify a network device of the discovered one or more of the plurality of control devices that received the discovery message above the signal strength threshold; and receive association information from the network device that indicates an association of at least one of the discovered one or more of the plurality of control devices for enabling control of an electrical load at a location. 14. The system controller of claim 13 , wherein the control circuit is configured to: order the discovered one or more of the plurality of control devices according to respective signal strengths of the discovery message received by each of the discovered one or more of the plurality of control devices. 15. The system controller of claim 14 , wherein the control circuit is configured to: order the discovered one or more of the plurality of control devices in descending order of the respective signal strengths. 16. The system controller of claim 14 , wherein the control circuit is configured to define the predefined signal strength threshold. 17. The system controller of claim 13 , wherein the control circuit is configured to: store the association information. 18. The system controller of claim 13 , wherein the control circuit is configured to: receive, via the at least one communication circuit, the discovery message from the load control discovery device, wherein the load control discovery device is determined based on the received discovery message from the load control discovery device; and discover the one or more of the plurality of control devices that received the discovery message based on an acknowledgement message from each control device of the discovered one or more of the plurality of control devices, wherein the acknowledgment message includes a device identifier. 19. The system controller of claim 18 , wherein the control circuit is configured to: send, via the at least one communication circuit, a request for acknowledgment of receipt of the discovery message to the plurality of control devices; and receive the acknowledgement message in response to the request for acknowledgement of receipt of the discovery message. 20. The system controller of claim 18 , wherein the acknowledgement message from each control device of the discovered control devices includes a signal strength at which the control device received the discovery message.
