Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A display device that achieves both high detection sensitivity of the touch sensor unit and smooth input on the touch sensor unit is provided. A method for driving a display device includes a first period and a second period. The display device includes pixels, a gate driver, and a touch sensor unit. The touch sensor unit detects a touch in the first period and stops detecting a touch in the second period. The gate driver supplies signals to some of the pixels and does not supply signals to the other pixels in the second period.

First claim

The invention claimed is: 1. A method for driving a display device comprising: the display device comprising pixels, a gate driver, and a touch sensor unit, the method comprising the steps of: detecting, by the touch sensor unit, pixels touched by a user, and supplying, by the gate driver, a signal to a row including the detected pixels during a frame period, wherein a signal is not supplied to a row not including the detected pixels during the entirety of the frame period, and wherein the touch sensor unit stops detecting a touch during supplying the signal to the row. 2. The method for driving the display device according to claim 1 , wherein the pixels each comprise a transistor comprising a metal oxide in a channel formation region. 3. A method for driving a display device comprising pixels, a gate driver, and a touch sensor unit, the method comprising the steps of: detecting, by the touch sensor unit, pixels touched by a user, and supplying, by the gate driver, a signal to a row including the detected pixels during a frame period, wherein a signal is not supplied to a row not including the detected pixels during the entirety of the frame period, wherein the touch sensor unit stops detecting a touch during supplying the signal to the row, and wherein the pixel comprises a reflective element and a light-emitting element. 4. The method for driving a display device according to claim 3 , wherein the pixels each comprise a transistor comprising a metal oxide in a channel formation region.
