A component is provided. The component includes a structure including a plurality of unit cells joined together, each unit cell of the plurality of unit cells having a mass density substantially similar to the mass density of every other unit cell of the plurality of unit cells. The plurality of unit cells includes a first portion of unit cells having a characteristic dimension and a first portion average stiffness, the characteristic dimension of the first portion of unit cells having a first value. The plurality of unit cells also includes a second portion of unit cells having the characteristic dimension and a second portion average stiffness, the characteristic dimension of the second portion of unit cells having a second value different from the first value, wherein the second portion average stiffness differs from the first portion average stiffness.

What is claimed is: 1. A component comprising: a structure comprising a plurality of unit cells joined together in a three-dimensional lattice shape such that the lattice varies in the x-, y-, and z-dimensions, each unit cell of said plurality of unit cells having a mass density substantially similar to the mass density of every other unit cell of said plurality of unit cells, said plurality of unit cells comprising: a first portion of unit cells having a first portion characteristic dimension and a first portion average stiffness, the first portion characteristic dimension of said first portion of unit cells having a first value; and a second portion of unit cells having a second portion characteristic dimension and a second portion average stiffness, the second portion characteristic dimension of said second portion of unit cells having a second value different from the first value, wherein the second portion average stiffness differs from the first portion average stiffness. 2. The component in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said structure comprises more than two portions of unit cells. 3. The component in accordance with claim 1 , wherein the first portion and the second portion characteristic dimensions are one of a height, a width, a length, and a diameter. 4. The component in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said component comprises at least a first section and a second section, wherein said first section comprises a unit cell structure, and wherein said second section comprises a solid structure. 5. The component in accordance with claim 4 , wherein said first section comprises a first material, and wherein said second section comprises a second material. 6. The component in accordance with claim 1 , wherein said three-dimensional lattice shape comprises unit cells having at least one of a triclinic, a monoclinic, an orthorhombic, a tetragonal, a hexagonal, a cubic, and a spherical shape. 7. A method of fabricating a component with an additive manufacturing system including a consolidating device, said method comprising: providing a build file of the component on a controller of the additive manufacturing system; depositing a material onto a surface; and operating the consolidating device to consolidate the material to form a structure comprising a plurality of unit cells joined together in a three-dimensional lattice shape such that the lattice varies in the x-, y-, and z-dimensions, wherein the plurality of unit cells comprise: a first portion of unit cells having a first portion characteristic dimension, the first portion characteristic dimension of the first portion of unit cells having a first value; and a second portion of unit cells having a second portion characteristic dimension, the second portion characteristic dimension of the second portion of unit cells having a second value different from the first value. 8. The method of claim 7 , wherein fabricating the component comprises operating the consolidating device to consolidate the material to form at least a first section and a second section, and wherein the first section comprises a unit cell structure and the second section comprises a solid structure. 9. The method of claim 8 , wherein operating the consolidating device further comprises forming a plurality of unit cells having a mass density substantially similar to the mass density of every other unit cell of the plurality of unit cells. 10. The method of claim 8 , wherein operating the consolidating device to consolidate the material further comprises forming a plurality of unit cells having at least one of a triclinic, a monoclinic, an orthorhombic, a tetragonal, a hexagonal, a cubic, and a spherical shape. 11. A component comprising: a structure comprising a plurality of spherical unit cells joined together, each unit cell of said plurality of spherical unit cells having a mass density substantially similar to the mass density of every other spherical unit cell of said plurality of spherical unit cells, said plurality of spherical unit cells comprising: a first portion of spherical unit cells having a first portion characteristic dimension and a first portion average stiffness, the first portion characteristic dimension of said first portion of spherical unit cells having a first value; and a second portion of spherical unit cells having a second portion characteristic dimension and a second portion average stiffness, the second portion characteristic dimension of said second portion of spherical unit cells having a second value different from the first value, wherein the second portion average stiffness differs from the first portion average stiffness. 12. The component in accordance with claim 11 , wherein said structure comprises more than two portions of spherical unit cells. 13. The component in accordance with claim 11 , wherein the first portion and the second portion characteristic dimensions are one of a height, a width, a length, and a diameter. 14. The component in accordance with claim 11 , wherein said component comprises at least a first section and a second section, wherein said first section comprises a unit cell structure, and wherein said second section comprises a solid structure. 15. The component in accordance with claim 14 , wherein said first section comprises a first material, and wherein said second section comprises a second material. 16. The component in accordance with claim 14 , wherein said first section comprises a lattice structure of said plurality of unit cells.
