Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An injectable immunogenic composition comprising capsular saccharides from at least two of serogroups A, C, W135 and Y of Neisseria meningitidis , wherein said capsular saccharides are conjugated to carrier protein(s) and/or are oligosaccharides, and wherein (i) the composition comprises <50 μg meningococcal saccharide per dose, and/or (ii) the composition further comprises an antigen from one or more of: (a) serogroup B N. meningitidis ; (b) Haemophilus influenzae type B; and/or (c) Streptococcus pneumoniae . Saccharide antigens in the compositions are generally conjugated to a carrier.

First claim

Opening claim text (preview).

The invention claimed is: 1. A kit comprising (a) a lyophilized capsular saccharide of Neisseria meningitidis serogroup A conjugated to a carrier protein and (b) liquid capsular saccharides of Neisseria meningitidis serogroups C, W135 and Y each conjugated to a carrier protein, wherein each of the conjugates is a separate conjugate for each of the serogroups A, C, Y and W135 and wherein reconstitution of the lyophilized capsular saccharide conjugate of the serogroup A Neisseria meningitidis with the liquid capsular saccharide conjugates of the serogroups C, Y and W135 Neisseria meningitidis produces an injectable composition comprising between about 10 micrograms and 25 micrograms of the capsular saccharides per dose of the composition and wherein the capsular saccharides of the Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, W135 and Y are present at a 2:1:1:1 capsular saccharide weight ratio. 2. The kit of claim 1 , wherein the capsular saccharide of Neisseria meningtidis serogroup A is modified so that one or more hydroxyl groups of the capsular saccharide have been replaced with blocking groups.
