A portable electronic device, a wearable device and methods for operating the same are provided. The portable electronic device includes a display; a communication interface configured to communicate with a wearable device using wireless short-range communication; a processor; and a memory storing instructions, which when executed by the processor, cause the portable electronic device to establish, via the communication interface, a connection between the portable electronic device and the wearable device, identify a security status of the connected wearable device, limit access to at least one predefined setting item among a plurality of setting items and control the display to display an indication of the identified security status if the identified security status corresponds to a lock status, wherein the at least one predefined setting item relates to a passcode, and allow access to the at least one predefined setting item if the identified security status corresponds to an unlock status.

What is claimed is: 1. A portable electronic device comprising: a display; a communication interface configured to communicate with a wearable device using wireless short-range communication; a processor; and a memory storing instructions, which when executed by the processor, cause the portable electronic device to: establish, via the communication interface, a connection between the portable electronic device and the wearable device, identify a security status of the connected wearable device, limit access to at least one predefined setting item among a plurality of setting items and control the display to display an indication of the identified security status if the identified security status corresponds to a lock status, wherein the at least one predefined setting item relates to a passcode, and allow access to the at least one predefined setting item if the identified security status corresponds to an unlock status. 2. The portable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the wearable device is a wrist watch having a pulse sensor positioned on a back side of a body of the wrist watch, the pulse sensor being used to determine a wearing status of the wrist watch, and wherein the wrist watch is configured to change the security status of the wrist watch from the unlock status to the lock status if the wearing status indicates that the wrist watch is not being worn. 3. The portable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, further cause the portable electronic device to provide, via the display, a menu for inputting a passcode if the identified security status corresponds to the unlock status. 4. The portable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, further cause the portable electronic device to detect a disconnection of the wireless short-range communication while the identified security status corresponds to the unlock status, and to limit access to the at least one predefined setting item if the disconnection of the wireless short-range communication is detected. 5. The portable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, further cause the portable electronic device to limit access to the at least one predefined setting item when the portable electronic device cannot identify the security status of the connected wearable device. 6. The portable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, further cause the portable electronic device to periodically identify the security status of the wearable device. 7. The portable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, further cause the portable electronic device to: receive, while allowing access to the at least one predefined setting item, the passcode, re-identify the security status of the connected wearable device, and limit or allow access to the at least one predefined setting item, based on the re-identified security status of the connected wearable device. 8. A system comprising: a wearable device; and a portable electronic device configured to: establish a wireless short-range connection between the portable electronic device and the wearable device, identify a security status of the connected wearable device, limit access to at least one predefined setting item among a plurality of setting items and display an indication of the identified security status if the identified security status corresponds to a lock status, wherein the at least one predefined setting item relates to a passcode, and allow access to the at least one predefined setting item if the identified security status corresponding to an unlock status. 9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the wearable device is configured to: determine a wearing status of the wearable device using a sensor affixed to the wearable device, and determine the security status of the wearable device based on the detected wearing status. 10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the wearable device is a wrist watch, and the sensor is a pulse sensor that detects a pulse rate. 11. The system of claim 10 , wherein, when a user wears the wrist watch, the sensor is positioned adjacent to the user's wrist. 12. The system of claim 10 , wherein the wrist watch is further configured to change the security status of the wrist watch from the unlock status to the lock status if the wearing status indicates that the wrist watch is not being worn. 13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the portable electronic device is further configured to display a menu for inputting a passcode of the portable electronic device if the identified security status corresponding to the unlock status. 14. The system of claim 8 , wherein the portable electronic device is further configured to detect a disconnection of the wireless short-range connection while the identified security status corresponds to the unlock status, and to limit access to the at least one predefined setting item if the disconnection of the wireless short-range communication is detected. 15. The system of claim 8 , wherein the portable electronic device is further configured to limit access to the at least one predefined setting item when the portable electronic device cannot identify the security status of the connected wearable device. 16. The system of claim 8 , wherein the portable electronic device is further configured to periodically identify the security status of the wearable device. 17. A method for controlling a portable electronic device, the method comprising: establishing a wireless short-range connection between the portable electronic device and a wearable device; identifying a security status of the connected wearable device; limiting access to at least one predefined setting item among a plurality of setting items and displaying an indication of the identified security status if the identified security status is a lock status, wherein the at least one predefined setting item relates to a passcode; and allowing access to the at least one predefined setting item if the identified security status is an unlock status. 18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the wearable device is a wrist watch having a pulse sensor positioned on a back side of a body of the wrist watch, wherein the pulse sensor determines a wearing status of the wrist watch, and wherein the wrist watch is configured to change the security status of the wrist watch from the unlock status to the lock status in response to the wearing status indicating that the wearable device is not being worn. 19. The method of claim 17 , further comprising displaying a menu for inputting a passcode of at least one of the portable electronic device or the wearable device. 20. The method of claim 17 , further comprising: detecting a disconnection of the wireless short-range connection with the identified security status being the unlock status; and limiting access to the at least one predefined setting item if the disconnection of the wireless short-range connection is detected.
