Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A nested insulated packaging assembly comprising an outer box and a thermal liner. The outer box includes an outer top side wall, an outer bottom side wall, and a plurality of outer lateral side walls. The thermal liner includes a terminal top end, a bend line, a top fold defined between the terminal top end and the bend line, and a back fold. The top fold is foldable relative to the back fold at the bend line. The back fold contacts one of the outer lateral side walls of the outer box. The thermal liner includes a thermal control material extending across the bend line.

That which is claimed is: 1. A nested insulated packaging assembly comprising: an outer box including an outer top side wall, an outer bottom side wall, and a plurality of outer lateral side walls; and a thermal liner including a terminal top end, a bend line, a top fold defined between the terminal top end and the bend line, and a back fold, wherein the top fold is foldable relative to the back fold at the bend line, the back fold contacts one of the outer lateral side walls of the outer box, the thermal liner includes an inner layer, an outer layer and a layer of resilient cushion protection thermal control material extending unbroken from a first end to a second end, the layer of resilient cushion protection thermal control material encapsulated by the inner layer and the outer layer, the layer of resilient cushion protection thermal control material extending across the bend line. 2. The nested insulated packaging assembly of claim 1 , wherein the thermal liner further includes a terminal bottom end, a second bend line, and a bottom fold defined between the terminal bottom end and the second bend line; the bottom fold is foldable relative to the back fold at the second bend line, the foldable thermal control material extends across the second bend line. 3. The nested insulated packaging assembly of claim 2 , wherein the back fold is defined between the top fold and the bottom fold. 4. The nested insulated packaging assembly of claim 1 , wherein the thermal liner is biodegradable. 5. The nested insulated packaging assembly of claim 1 , wherein the thermal liner is compostable. 6. The nested insulated packaging assembly of claim 1 , wherein: the top fold contacts the outer top side wall of the outer box; and the bottom fold contacts the outer bottom side wall of the outer box. 7. The nested insulated packaging assembly of claim 6 , wherein the thermal liner and the second thermal liner are each C-shaped. 8. The nested insulated packaging assembly of claim 1 further comprising a second thermal liner contacting a second of the outer lateral side walls of the outer box. 9. The nested insulated packaging assembly of claim 2 , further comprising a second thermal liner, the second thermal liner includes a third bend line, a fourth bend line, a left fold, a right fold, and a front fold defined between the third bend line and the fourth bend line; the left fold is foldable relative to the front fold at the third bend line, the right fold is foldable relative to the front fold at the fourth bend line, the front fold contacts a second of the outer lateral side walls of the outer box, the second thermal liner includes a thermal control material extending across the third bend line and the fourth bend line. 10. A nested insulated packaging assembly comprising: an outer box including an outer top side wall, an outer bottom side wall, and a plurality of outer lateral side walls; and a thermal liner including a terminal top end, a bend line, a top fold defined between the terminal top end and the bend line, and a back fold, wherein the top fold is foldable relative to the back fold at the bend line, the back fold contacts one of the outer lateral side walls of the outer box, the thermal liner includes an inner layer, an outer layer and a piece of resilient cushion protection thermal control material extending unbroken from a first end to a second end, the piece of resilient cushion protection thermal control material encapsulated by the inner layer and the outer layer, the piece of resilient cushion protection thermal control material situated in the top fold and the back fold. 11. The nested insulated packaging assembly of claim 10 , wherein the thermal liner further includes a terminal bottom end, a second bend line, and a bottom fold defined between the terminal bottom end and the second bend line; the bottom fold is foldable relative to the back fold at the second bend line, the single piece of thermal control material is situated in the back fold and the bottom fold. 12. The nested insulated packaging assembly of claim 10 , wherein the thermal liner is biodegradable. 13. The nested insulated packaging assembly of claim 10 , wherein the thermal liner is compostable. 14. The nested insulated packaging assembly of claim 10 further comprising a second thermal liner contacting a second of the outer lateral side walls of the outer box. 15. The nested insulated packaging assembly of claim 14 , wherein the thermal liner and the second thermal liner are each C-shaped. 16. A method of assembling a nested insulated packaging assembly comprising the steps of: providing an outer box defining a top opening, the outer box includes an outer bottom side wall and a plurality of outer lateral side walls; providing a thermal liner including a top end, a bend line, a top fold defined between the top end and the bend line, and a back fold, the thermal liner includes an inner layer, an outer layer and a layer of resilient cushion protection thermal control material extending unbroken from a first end to a second end, the layer of resilient cushion protection thermal control material encapsulated by the inner layer and the outer layer, the layer of resilient cushion protection thermal control material extending across the bend line; positioning the thermal liner in the outer box wherein the back fold contacts one of the outer lateral side walls of the outer box and the top fold extends through the top opening of the outer box; and folding the top fold relative to the back fold at the bend line. 17. The method of claim 16 , wherein the thermal liner further includes a bottom end, a second bend line, and a bottom fold defined between the bottom end and the second bend line, the terminal control material extends across the second bend line; and further comprising the step of folding the bottom fold relative to the back fold at the second bend line. 18.
