Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

In a threaded joint for pipes constituted by a pin and a box, each having a contact surface comprising a threaded portion and an unthreaded metal contact portion, the contact surface of the pin has a solid corrosion protective, preferably transparent coating based on a UV-curable resin and the contact surface of the box has a solid lubricating coating having plastic or viscoplastic rheological behavior which is preferably formed by the hot melt technique from a composition comprising a thermoplastic polymer, a wax, a metal soap, a corrosion inhibitor, a water-insoluble liquid resin, and a solid lubricant.

The invention claimed is: 1. A threaded pipe joint kit including a pin and a box capable of being mutually threadedly engaged to form a threaded pipe joint, the pin comprising: a contact surface of threaded portion; a contact surface of unthreaded metal contact portion; and a transparent solid corrosion protective coating; the transparent solid corrosion protective coating being present in an outermost layer formed over the contact surface of threaded portion; the transparent solid corrosion protective coating being present in an outermost layer formed over the contact surface of unthreaded metal contact portion; the transparent solid corrosion protective coating containing a UV-curable resin; the box comprising: a contact surface of threaded portion; a contact surface of unthreaded metal contact portion; and a solid lubricating coating; the solid lubricating coating being present in an innermost layer formed over the contact surface of threaded portion; the solid lubricating coating being present in an innermost layer formed over the contact surface of unthreaded metal contact portion, wherein a lubricating coating is not present beneath the transparent solid corrosion protective coating over the contact surface of threaded portion, and a lubricating coating is not present beneath the transparent solid corrosion protective coating over the contact surface of unthreaded metal contact portion. 2. The threaded pipe joint kit according to claim 1 wherein the threaded pipe joint is used for connecting oil country tubular goods to each other. 3. The threaded pipe joint kit according to claim 1 wherein the contact surface of threaded portion of at least one of the pin and the box and the contact surface of unthreaded metal contact portion of at least one of the pin and the box has undergone preparatory surface treatment by a method selected from blasting, pickling, phosphate chemical conversion treatment, oxalate chemical conversion treatment, borate chemical conversion treatment, metallic plating, and a combination of two or more of these methods. 4. The threaded pipe joint kit according to claim 1 wherein the transparent solid corrosion protective coating further contains at least one additive selected from among the group consisting of a lubricant, a fibrous filler, and a rust-preventing agent. 5. The threaded pipe joint kit according to claim 4 wherein the lubricant is a wax. 6. The threaded pipe joint kit according to claim 1 wherein the transparent solid corrosion protective coating further contains at least one additive selected from a pigment, a dye, and a fluorescent agent, each with a mass ratio of 0.05 at most with respect to the UV-curable resin. 7. The threaded pipe joint kit according to claim 6 wherein the pigment has an average particle size of 5 μm or less. 8. The threaded pipe joint kit according to claim 1 wherein a thickness of the transparent solid corrosion protective coating is 5 μm to 50 μm. 9. The threaded pipe joint kit according to claim 1 wherein the transparent solid corrosion protective coating is present in a single layer which is the only coating layer present at the pin. 10. The threaded pipe joint kit according to claim 1 wherein the solid lubricating coating is formed by spray coating of a molten composition. 11. The threaded pipe joint kit according to claim 10 wherein the composition comprises a thermoplastic polymer, a wax, a metal soap, and a solid lubricant. 12. The threaded pipe joint kit according to claim 10 wherein the composition further contains a corrosion inhibitor. 13. The threaded pipe joint kit according to claim 10 wherein the composition further contains a corrosion inhibitor and a water-insoluble liquid resin. 14. The threaded pipe joint kit according to claim 1 wherein the solid lubricating coating comprises 70 mass % to 95 mass % of a matrix and 5 mass % to 30 mass % of a lubricating powder and exhibits plastic or viscoplastic rheological behavior. 15. The threaded pipe joint kit according to claim 14 wherein the matrix has a melting point of 80 degrees C. to 320 degrees C. 16. The threaded pipe joint kit according to claim 1 wherein the transparent solid corrosion protective coating is present in a single layer which is the only coating layer present at the pin.
