Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A manufacturing arrangement realized for manufacturing a rotor blade, including a pair of tracks arranged along the longitudinal sides of a blade mold; a first gantry assembly realized to span the track pair and to carry a first tool arrangement including at least a fiber distributor for distributing a fiber material into the blade mold; a second gantry assembly realized to span the track pair and to carry a second tool arrangement realized to carry a supply of fiber material and to provide the fiber material to the fiber distributor; and a control arrangement realized to effect a coordinated movement of the gantry assemblies along the track pair and to coordinate the operation of the second tool arrangement with the operation of the first tool arrangement is provided. A fiber mat magazine; a manufacturing line; a method of manufacturing a rotor blade; and a rotor blade, is also provided.

The claims are as follows: 1. A manufacturing arrangement that manufactures a rotor blade, comprising: a pair of tracks arranged along the longitudinal sides of a blade mold; a first gantry assembly configured to span the pair of tracks and to carry a first tool arrangement comprising at least a fiber distributor that distributes a fiber material into the blade mold; a second gantry assembly configured to span the pair of tracks and to carry a second tool arrangement that includes a magazine configured to carry a supply of the fiber material comprising a plurality of fiber matting reels of different sizes and thicknesses, and to provide the fiber material to the fiber distributor; and a control arrangement configured to effect a coordinated movement of the first gantry assembly and the second gantry assembly along the pair of tracks and to coordinate an operation of the second tool arrangement with an operation of the first tool arrangement, wherein the control arrangement specifies a desired type and size of the fiber material according to a position of the first gantry assembly relative to the blade mold, and when the first gantry assembly is located at the position relative to the blade mold, controls the second tool arrangement to transfer the desired type and size of the fiber material of a fiber matting reel contained within the magazine from the second gantry assembly to the fiber distributor of the first gantry assembly. 2. The manufacturing arrangement according to claim 1 , wherein the second tool arrangement comprises a winding unit configured to wind the fiber material in preparation for loading to the fiber distributor. 3. The manufacturing arrangement according to claim 2 , wherein the second tool arrangement comprises a lifting tool for lifting a fiber matting reel from the fiber material supply to the winding unit. 4. The manufacturing arrangement according to claim 3 , wherein the lifting tool comprises a carriage configured to traverse the second gantry magazine. 5. The manufacturing arrangement according to claim 3 , wherein the lifting tool comprises an actuator for actuating the carriage and/or for actuating a gripping means for lifting the fiber matting reel to the winding unit. 6. The manufacturing arrangement according to claim 1 , wherein the control arrangement comprises a drive unit arranged on a gantry for moving the gantry along the pair of tracks and/or an actuating unit for actuating a tool arrangement. 7. A fiber mat magazine for use with a manufacturing arrangement according to claim 1 , the fiber mat magazine comprising a holding means for holding a plurality of fiber mat reels; and a winding unit for winding a length of fiber material from a fiber mat reel of the plurality of fiber mat reels to a tool attachment for the fiber distributor. 8. A manufacturing line for the manufacture of wind turbine rotor blades, the manufacturing line comprising a first manufacturing arrangement according to claim 1 for manufacturing an upper blade half, wherein the pair of tracks is arranged along the longitudinal sides of an upper blade mold; and a second manufacturing arrangement according to claim 1 for manufacturing a lower blade half, wherein the pair of tracks is arranged along the longitudinal sides of a lower blade mold; wherein the control arrangements of the first manufacturing arrangement and the second manufacturing arrangement are configured to coordinate an operation of the first tool arrangement and the second tool arrangement such that the blade halves are manufactured essentially simultaneously. 9. The manufacturing line according to claim 8 , wherein the pair of tracks of each manufacturing arrangement are arranged to accommodate a plurality of blade molds arranged sequentially between the pair of tracks.
