A filter apparatus has a filter housing ( 1 ) accommodating at least one filter element ( 17 ) having an inner filter cavity ( 23 ) enclosed by a filter medium ( 27 ). The housing ( 1 ) contains an element bolder ( 19 ) that interacts with the filter element ( 17 ) located in its functional position. The element holder ( 19 ) has a projecting accommodating part ( 43 ) with an outer configuration adapted to the shape of an opening ( 37 ) located at the end of the filter element ( 17 ) to be secured to the element holder ( 19 ). The accommodating part ( 43 ) fits through the opening ( 37 ) of the filter element ( 17 ) located in the functional position.

What is claimed is: 1. A filter apparatus, comprising; a filter housing having a fluid discharge opening therein; a filter element having an inner filter cavity enclosed by a filter medium received in said filter housing, said filter element having an element opening at an end of said filter element; and an element holder being in said filter housing and interacting with said filter element when said filter element is in a functional position thereof in said filter housing, said element holder having a projecting accommodating spike and having a shaft extending in said accommodating spike, said accommodating spike fitting through said element opening of said filter element when said filter element is in the functional position thereof, said shaft being sealed in said fluid discharge opening and including an internal fluid path between an exterior of a collar on said shaft and said fluid discharge opening. 2. A filter apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said element holder is formed of steel. 3. A filter apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said shaft is screwed in said fluid discharge opening. 4. A filter apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said accommodating spike extends into an accommodating space in an end cap on said end of said filter element, said accommodating space extending into said inner filter cavity from said element opening. 5. A filter apparatus according to claim 4 wherein a part of said accommodating spike has a non-round circumference transverse to a longitudinal axis thereof. 6. A filter apparatus according to claim 4 wherein said accommodating space has a configuration of a dome. 7. A filter apparatus according to claim 6 wherein said dome being closed except for said opening. 8. A filter apparatus according to claim 4 wherein said accommodating space has an outer configuration conforming to a shape of said element opening. 9. A filter apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said accommodating spike includes planar surface parts about and along a circumference of said accommodating spike defining a cross-sectional shape with four straight sides inscribed in a square. 10. A filter apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said accommodating spike reduces in cross section toward a top free end thereof. 11. A filter apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said accommodating spike is rotatably supported on said shaft extending into a central bore of said accommodating spike. 12. A filter apparatus according to claim 1 wherein a collar rests against said accommodating spike and secures said accommodating spike against axial movement thereof in a direction away from said filter element. 13. A filter apparatus according to claim 1 wherein a snap ring is disposed on said shaft and is received in a groove in a central bore of said accommodating spike securing said accommodating spike against lifting-off axially from said shaft. 14. A filter element securable to an element holder being in a filter housing and having an accommodating part, the filter element comprising: a filter medium enclosing an inner filter cavity and having an end with an opening securable to the element holder, said opening constituting an access to said inner filter cavity to receive the accommodating part extending away from the element holder, such that the accommodating part can fit through said opening when the filter element is in a functional position thereof in the filter housing, said opening being in an end cap framing said filter medium allowing the accommodating part to extend into said inner filter cavity and to fit through said opening in the functional position of the filter element in the filter housing, said end cap including an accommodating space being configured as a dome extending from said opening and into said inner filter cavity, the accommodating part being configured as a spike being enclosable in said accommodating space in a sleeve manner. 15. A filter element according to claim 14 wherein said opening is in said dome and is delimited by rims around said opening that are adapted to a cross-sectional shape of the spike that fits through said opening, said cross-sectional shape having planar surfaces. 16. A filter element according to claim 14 wherein said dome comprises an interior wall having planar surfaces converging toward an internal end of said dome and able to achieve a fitting contact with planar surfaces on the spike when received in said dome. 17. A filter element according to claim 14 wherein said inner filter cavity has a size and shape corresponding to and adapted to a size and shape of the accommodating part. 18. A filter element according to claim 14 wherein said dome being closed except for said opening. 19. A filter apparatus, comprising; a filter housing having a longitudinal axis; a filter element having a longitudinal axis, having an inner filter cavity enclosed by a filter medium and being received in said filter housing, said filter element having an opening at an end of said filter element and having a dome extending into said inner filter cavity, said dome having an accommodating space therein extending from said opening and defined by converging planar surfaces; and an element holder being in said filter housing and interacting with said filter element when said filter element is in a functional position thereof in said filter housing, said element holder having a projecting accommodating spike with an outer configuration of converging planar surfaces conforming to said converging planar surfaces of accommodating space, said accommodating spike being received in said opening and said accommodating space securing said filter element to said element holder when said filter element is in a functional position thereof. 20. A filter apparatus according to claim 19 wherein said dome being closed except for said opening.
