Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Systems and methods are provided for activating a card using augmented reality. The systems and methods may include capturing a real-time image of the card using a customer device, and extracting card information from the real-time image. The card information may be processed and used by a customer device or a financial provider server to activate the card. The customer device may display interactive graphics overlaid on the real-time card image to guide the customer through the activation process, and to educate the customer about the components of the card and aspects of the financial service associated with the card, such as a credit card service. The customer may interact with the overlaid graphics such as by selecting icons or portions of the card to trigger tutorials or to set preferences related to the card and/or financial service.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. A method to enhance an account card user experience, comprising: capturing, by a video camera, a real-time image of an account card; processing, by at least one processor connected to the video camera, the captured real-time image to obtain first information presented on the account card; generating, by the at least one processor, an augmented reality graphic based on the captured real-time image, the augmented reality graphic including: second information about the account card that is not presented on the account card, and an instructional setup configured to facilitate activation of the account card; displaying, on a display in communication with the at least one processor, the augmented reality graphic overlaid on the real-time image; detecting a change to at least one of a position or an orientation of the account card; and modifying, based on the detected change, the augmented reality graphic. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the steps of generating and displaying the augmented reality graphic launch automatically upon activation of the card to provide a tutorial or a preference setup. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein generating the augmented reality graphic is at least partially based on the position of the account card. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein generating the augmented reality graphic is at least partially based on the orientation of the account card. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein generating the augmented reality graphic is at least partially based on the obtained first information. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second information is generated at least partially based on the obtained first information. 7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the augmented reality graphic includes at least one of a text field, an image, or a video explaining terms of the account card. 8. The method of claim 6 , wherein the augmented reality graphic includes at least one of a text field, an image, or a video explaining financial services associated with the account card to a user of the account card. 9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the augmented reality graphic includes a prompt for input from a user of the account card. 10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the augmented reality graphic includes a prompt for input of a selection of an icon included in the augmented reality graphic. 11. The method of claim 9 , wherein the augmented reality graphic includes a query regarding at least one of a term description, a tutorial video, or a tutorial animation. 12. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: positioning the augmented reality graphic relative to a position of the account card on the display. 13. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: visually associating the augmented reality graphic with a portion of the real-time image of the account card. 14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the augmented reality graphic is visually associated with the portion of the real-time image of the account card utilizing an arrow that extends from the augmented reality graphic to the portion of the real-time image of the account card. 15. The method of claim 13 , wherein the augmented reality graphic is visually associated with the portion of the real-time image of the account card utilizing an emphasizing notation that highlights the portion of the real-time image of the account card. 16. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: updating the augmented reality graphic based on the captured real-time image; and displaying the updated augmented reality graphic overlaid on the real-time image. 17. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform augmented-reality account card processing operations comprising: obtaining a real-time image of an account card; processing the real-time image to obtain first card information presented on the account card; generating an augmented reality graphic based on the captured real-time image, the augmented reality graphic including: second information about the account card that is not presented on the account card, and an instructional setup configured to facilitate activation of the account card; displaying, on a display in communication with the one or more processors, the augmented reality graphic overlaid on the real-time image; detecting a change to at least one of a position or an orientation of the account card; and modifying, based on the detected change, the augmented reality graphic. 18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein generating the augmented reality graphic further comprises: generating the augmented reality graphic at least partially based on at least one of the position or the orientation of the account card. 19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the augmented reality graphic includes at least one of a text field, an image, or a video explaining terms of the account card or financial services associated with the account card to a user of the account card. 20. A real-time augmented reality account card processing system, comprising: a memory device having instructions stored thereon; and a processor in communication with the memory device configured to execute the stored instructions to: obtain a real-time image of an account card; process the real-time image to obtain first information presented on the account card; generate an augmented reality graphic based on the captured real-time image, the augmented reality graphic including: second information about the account card that is not presented on the account card, and an instructional setup configured to facilitate activation of the account card; display, on a display in communication with the one or more processors, the augmented reality graphic overlaid on the real-time image; detect a change to at least one of a position or an orientation of the account card; and modifying the augmented reality graphic based on the detected change.
