A solid electrolyte having a NaSICON-type crystal structure and represented by a general formula Li1+aZr2−bMc(PO4)3. In the general formula, Li may be partially substituted with at least one selected from the group consisting of Na, K, Rb, Cs, Ag, and Ca, P may be partially substituted with at least one of B and Si, M contains at least one first element capable of stabilizing or partially stabilizing the tetragonal or cubic crystal structure of a high-temperature phase of ZrO2, −0.50≤a≤2.00, 0.01≤b≤1.90, and 0.01≤c≤1.90.

The invention claimed is: 1. A solid electrolyte having a NaSICON-type crystal structure, the solid electrolyte represented by: Li 1+a Zr 2−b M1 c1 M2 c2 (PO 4 ) 3 wherein M1 is at least one element capable of stabilizing or partially stabilizing a tetragonal or cubic crystal structure of a high-temperature phase of ZrO 2 , M2 is at least one element selected from the group of Al, Ga, Sc, In, Ge, Ti, Ru, Sn, Hf, Ce, V, Nb, Ta, Bi, and W, −0.50≤a≤2.00, 0.01≤b≤1.90, 0.01≤c1≤0.90, and 0.01≤c2≤1.89. 2. The solid electrolyte according to claim 1 , wherein Li is partially substituted with at least one selected from the group of Na, K, Rb, Cs, Ag, and Ca. 3. The solid electrolyte according to claim 2 , wherein P is partially substituted at least one of B and Si. 4. The solid electrolyte according to claim 1 , wherein P is partially substituted at least one of B and Si. 5. An all solid state electrolyte battery comprising: a solid electrolyte layer comprising the solid electrolyte according to claim 1 ; a positive electrode joined to a first surface of the solid electrolyte layer; and a negative electrode joined to a second surface of the solid electrolyte layer.
