The present invention relates to novel anthelmintic compounds of formula (IA) below: wherein, Y is selected from the group consisting of —H, aryl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, heteroaryl, heterocyclyl, alkyl, haloalkyl, and alkoxyalkyl; and Z is selected from the group consisting of aryl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, heteroaryl, heterocyclyl, alkyl, haloalkyl, and alkoxyalkyl. Variables Ring A, Ring B, Ring C, X 1 , X 6 , and X 8 are as defined herein. The invention also relates to parasiticidal compositions comprising the compounds, and methods and uses of the compounds for treating and preventing parasitic infections and infestations in animals.

What is claimed is: 1. An anthelmintic compound of formula (IA): wherein: Ring A is piperazinyl; Ring C is pyridine-2,4-diyl, pyridine-2,3-diyl, pyridine-2,5-diyl, pyridine-3,5-diyl, or pyridine-2,6-diyl; Y is C 1 -C 4 alkyl, C 6 -C 10 -aryl, C 3 -C 10 -cycloalkyl, or 5-10 membered heteroaryl, or 3-8 membered heterocyclyl, each optionally substituted by one or more of halogen, alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxy, haloalkoxy, alkylthio, halothio, haloalkylthio, alkylsulfinyl, haloalkylsulfinyl, alkylsulfonyl, or haloalkylsulfonyl; X 1 is, C 2 -C 4 alkenylene, —O—, —S—, —C(O)—, —S(O) 2 —, —O—C(O)—, —C(O)—O—, —C(O)—N(R 1 )—, N(R 1 )—C(O)—, —C(S)—N(R 1 )—, N(R 1 )—C(S)—, —N(R 1 )SO 2 —, —(CH 2 ) n —, —C(O)—(CH 2 ) n —, —(CH 2 ) n —C(O)—, or —O—(CH 2 ) n —C(O)—, where n is independently 1 to 3; R 1 is independently H, or C 1 -C 3 alkyl; and is selected from the group consisting of: 2.
