Official abstract text for this publication.
A catheter pump is disclosed herein. The catheter pump can include a catheter assembly that comprises a drive shaft and an impeller coupled to a distal end of the drive shaft. A driven assembly can be coupled to a proximal end of the drive shaft within a driven assembly housing. The catheter pump can also include a drive system that comprises a motor and a drive magnet coupled to an output shaft of the motor. The drive system can include a drive assembly housing having at least one magnet therein. Further, a securement device can be configured to prevent disengagement of the driven assembly housing from the drive assembly housing during operation of the pump.

What is claimed is: 1. A percutaneous heart pump comprising: a catheter body; an impeller operably coupled with a distal portion of a drive shaft disposed within the catheter body; a motor assembly operably coupled with a proximal portion of the drive shaft; a hollow guidewire lumen extending proximally through the catheter body and the motor assembly, the hollow guidewire lumen configured to receive a guidewire therein; a proximal guidewire opening disposed proximal to the motor assembly; and a resealable member disposed in the proximal guidewire opening, the resealable member configured to close the proximal guidewire opening when the guidewire is removed from the hollow guidewire lumen. 2. The percutaneous heart pump of claim 1 , further comprising a flow diverter and a seal in the flow diverter, the seal disposed about a shaft so as to seal fluid in the flow diverter and prevent fluid from entering the motor assembly. 3. The percutaneous heart pump of claim 2 , wherein the motor assembly comprises a motor shaft that couples with the drive shaft, the seal disposed about the motor shaft. 4. The percutaneous heart pump of claim 1 , wherein the hollow guidewire lumen extends through the impeller. 5. The percutaneous heart pump of claim 1 , wherein the catheter body comprises a first lumen to transport fluids distally. 6. The percutaneous heart pump of claim 5 , wherein the catheter body comprises a second lumen to transport fluids proximally. 7. The percutaneous heart pump of claim 1 , wherein the motor assembly is permanently secured to the catheter body. 8. The percutaneous heart pump of claim 1 , wherein the motor assembly comprises a rotor magnetically coupled with a rotatable magnet. 9. The percutaneous heart pump of claim 1 , wherein the motor assembly comprises a plurality of windings and a rotatable magnet, the rotatable magnet configured to rotate when the plurality of windings are energized.
