Provided are methods of treatment for tumors. In particular, methods are provided for use of a chemically modified IL-10 to treat tumors.

What is claimed is: 1. A method of inhibiting or reducing growth of a tumor or cancer in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising: administering to the subject an effective amount of a pegylated interleukin-10 (PEG-IL-10) in combination with temozolomide, aemcitabine, doxorubicin, or interferon-alpha, wherein the PEG-IL-10 is human PEG-IL-10, wherein the PEG component of the PEG-IL-10 is about 5 to 20 kDa and is covalently attached to a single amino acid residue of the IL-10 protein, wherein the PEG-IL-10 is dosed at 0.1 to 20 μg per kg of body weight per day, and wherein the tumor or cancer is breast cancer, melanoma, colon cancer, or lung cancer, and wherein temozolomide is dosed at 5 mg to 250 mg, aemcitabine is dosed at 200 mg to 1 g, doxorubicin is dosed at 1 mg/m 2 to 50 mg/m 2 , or interferon-alpha is dosed at 1 μg/kg to 300 μg/kg. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the cancer is lung cancer. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the PEG-IL-10 further comprises a methoxy-PEG-aldehyde (PALD-PEG) linker.
