A method for continuously producing a cleaning member obtained from a multilayer web that includes at least a fiber bundle with hollow fibers, and non-woven fabric strips includes at least: a step for preparing a guide member provided with a pair of width-adjusting member, and having a predetermined interval; a step for conveying a fiber bundle strip, such as the fiber bundle with hollow fibers, between the pair of width-adjusting members of the guide member, and adjusting the width of the fiber bundle strip so as to match the aforementioned interval; a step for forming the multilayer web by overlaying the strip-like fiber bundle, the width of which has been adjusted, on the non-woven fabric strips; and a step for joining the components of the multilayer web.

The invention claimed is: 1. A system for continuously producing a cleaning member that is obtained from a multi-layer web containing at least a belt-shaped fiber bundle and a belt-shaped nonwoven fabric, the belt-shaped fiber bundle comprising an opened fiber bundle, the system comprising: a device provided with a guide member comprising a pair of width-adjusting members having a predetermined spacing therebetween for adjusting a width of the belt-shaped fiber bundle, a device for forming the multi-layer web by stacking the width-adjusted belt-shaped fiber bundle on the belt-shaped nonwoven fabric, and a device for connecting the stacked belt-shaped fiber bundle and belt-shaped nonwoven fabric of the multi-layer web, wherein each width-adjusting member of the pair of width-adjusting members has an upper end, a lower end, and a contact area, and has a rod shape in an axial direction crossing a machine direction of the belt-shaped fiber bundle, the system further comprises a device for conveying the belt-shaped fiber bundle, in the machine direction, through the pair of width-adjusting members while sides of the belt-shaped fiber bundle are in contact with the contact areas of the pair of width-adjusting members so as to reduce the width of the belt-shaped fiber bundle to coincide with the predetermined spacing between the pair of width-adjusting members, in each width-adjusting member of the pair of the width-adjusting members, the upper end is located at an upstream side relative to the lower end in the machine direction, the guide member further includes a supporting member connecting the lower end of one of the width-adjusting members to the lower end of the other width-adjusting member, and the device for conveying is configured to convey the belt-shaped fiber bundle on the supporting member. 2. The system according to claim 1 , wherein each width-adjusting member of the pair of width-adjusting members has curved surface parts configured to be in contact with the sides of the belt-shaped fiber bundle. 3. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the guide member further includes a height-adjusting member that connects the upper end of one of the width-adjusting members to the upper end of the other width-adjusting member. 4. The system according to claim 1 , further comprising a device for cutting the multi-layer web into individual cleaning members. 5. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the guide member further includes a height-adjusting member that connects the upper end of one of the width-adjusting members with the upper end of the other width-adjusting member, and the height-adjusting member is configured to control the belt-shaped fiber bundle not to exceed a height of the height-adjusting member.
