A printing system is disclosed. The printing system includes a printing unit, a sheet processing unit, and a control unit. The sheet processing unit performs a designated sheet process for the printed sheet using a die that is manually selected by a user and attached to the sheet processing unit. When the die for performing the designated sheet process is not attached to the sheet processing unit, it is determined, before the printing unit starts printing the image on a first sheet on which the printing unit prints the image firstly among sheets on which the designated sheet process is to be performed, not to perform the designated sheet process for the sheets on which the designated sheet process is to be performed. The printing unit starts printing the image on the sheets on which the designated sheet process is to be performed after the determination.

What is claimed is: 1. A printing system comprising: a printing unit configured to perform an operation for printing an image on a first sheet; a sheet processing unit configured to perform sheet processing using a die attached to the sheet processing unit for the first sheet on which the image is printed by the printing unit; a detection unit configured to detect a type of the die attached to the sheet processing unit; and a control unit configured to control, in a case where it is determined based on a detection result of the detection unit that a die to be used for designated sheet processing is not attached to the sheet processing unit and the printing unit has not performed the operation to print the image on the first sheet, the printing unit not to start printing the image on the first sheet. 2. The printing system according to claim 1 , further comprising a reception unit configured to receive an instruction for performing the designated sheet processing, wherein in a case where it is determined based on the detection result of the detection unit that the die to be used for the designated sheet processing is not attached to the sheet processing unit, the control unit controls the printing unit that has not performed the operation to print the image on the first sheet not to start printing the image on the first sheet even if the reception unit receives the instruction. 3. The printing system according to claim 2 , wherein the reception unit receives the instruction from an external controller of the printing system. 4. The printing system according to claim 1 , wherein the die includes a first die or a second die selectively attachable to the sheet processing unit, the first die is used for first sheet processing, and the second die is used for second sheet processing different from the first sheet processing, wherein the first sheet processing is punch processing for a sheet and the second sheet processing is sheet processing different from the punch processing. 5. The printing system according to claim 1 , further comprising a notification unit configured to notify of information which indicates that the die to be used for the designated sheet processing is not attached to the sheet processing unit in a case where it is determined based on the detection result of the detection unit that the die to be used for the designated sheet processing is not attached to the sheet processing unit, wherein, in a case where it is determined based on the detection result of the detection unit that the die to be used for the designated sheet processing is attached to the sheet processing unit after the notification unit notifies of the information, the control unit controls the printing unit that has not performed the operation to print the image on the first sheet to start printing the image on the first sheet. 6. An image forming apparatus including a printing unit configured to perform an operation for printing an image on a first sheet based on a print job, the image forming apparatus being connected to a sheet processing apparatus configured to perform sheet processing using a die attached to the sheet processing apparatus for the first sheet on which the image is printed by the printing unit, comprising; a detection unit configured to detect a type of the die attached to the sheet processing apparatus; and a control unit configured to control, in a case where it is determined based on a detection result of the detection unit that a die to be used for designated sheet processing is not attached to the sheet processing apparatus and the printing unit has not performed the operation to print the image on the first sheet, the printing unit not to start printing the image on the first sheet.
