Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An occupant protection device for a vehicle includes a seat, a three-point seatbelt device, and a belt airbag device. An occupant to board the vehicle is to sit on the seat. The three-point seatbelt device includes a seatbelt extendable across a front of an upper body of the occupant sitting on the seat. The belt airbag device includes a belt airbag that is provided at a shoulder belt section, which is extendable from a shoulder to a waist of the occupant, of the seatbelt, and that is configured to be deployed when a collision occurs. The belt airbag includes a belt-direction deployment section extendable and deployable along the shoulder belt section, and an intersecting-direction deployment section extendable and deployable in a direction intersecting the shoulder belt section. The sections are configured to form a single bag by being coupled to each other below a head of the occupant sitting on the seat.

First claim

The invention claimed is: 1. An occupant protection device for a vehicle, the occupant protection device comprising: a seat on which an occupant to board the vehicle is to sit; a three-point seatbelt device including a seatbelt extendable, across a front of an upper body of the occupant sitting on the seat, from above either one shoulder of the occupant to an outer surface of the seat and further to an inner surface of the seat; and a belt airbag device comprising a belt airbag that is provided at a shoulder belt section, which is extendable from the shoulder to a waist of the occupant, of the seatbelt, the belt airbag being configured to be deployed below a jaw of the occupant sitting on the seat when a collision occurs, wherein the belt airbag comprises: a belt-direction deployment section extendable and deployable along the shoulder belt section, disposing below a head of the occupant sitting on the seat; and an intersecting-direction deployment section, splitting from the belt-direction deployment section, being extendable and deployable in a direction intersecting the shoulder belt section, and disposing below the head of the occupant sitting on the seat, wherein the belt-direction deployment section and the intersecting-direction deployment section are configured to form a single bag by being coupled to each other below the head of the occupant sitting on the seat, and wherein a filler that fills a space between the belt-direction deployment section and the intersecting-direction deployment section is formed above an area where the belt-direction deployment section and the intersecting-direction deployment section are coupled to each other. 2. An occupant protection device for a vehicle, the occupant protection device comprising: a seat on which an occupant to board the vehicle is to sit, the seat including a seating surface and a seat back; a three-point seatbelt device including a seatbelt extendable along a surface of the seat back so as to be across a front of an upper body of the occupant sitting on the seat, the seatbelt including a shoulder belt section that is extendable from a shoulder to a waist of the occupant; and a belt airbag device comprising a belt airbag that is provided at the shoulder belt section, the belt airbag being configured to be inflated and deployed to be in an inflated and deployed state when a collision occurs, wherein the belt airbag in the inflated and deployed state, includes: a belt-direction deployment section extending along a surface of the shoulder belt section; and an intersecting-direction deployment section intersecting the belt-direction deployment section at a predetermined angle, the intersecting-direction deployment section extending in a direction along the surface of the seat back from the belt-direction deployment section, wherein the belt-direction deployment section and the intersecting-direction deployment section are configured to form a single bag by being coupled to each other below a head of the occupant sitting on the seat, wherein, after the bag is deployed an upper surface of the intersecting-direction deployment section intersects with an upper surface of the belt-direction deployment section in a V-shape, and wherein a filler, which fills a space between the upper surface of the intersecting-direction deployment section and the upper surface of the belt-direction deployment section, extends above the V-shape. 3. An occupant protection device for a vehicle, the occupant protection device comprising: a seat on which an occupant to board the vehicle is to sit, the seat including a seating surface and a seat back; a three-point seatbelt device including a seatbelt extendable along a surface of the seat back so as to be across a front of an upper body of the occupant sitting on the seat, the seatbelt including a shoulder belt section that is extendable from a shoulder to a waist of the occupant; and a belt airbag device comprising a belt airbag that is provided at the shoulder belt section, the belt airbag being configured to be inflated and deployed to be in an inflated and deployed state when a collision occurs, wherein the belt airbag in the inflated and deployed state, includes: a belt-direction deployment section extending along a surface of the shoulder belt section; and an intersecting-direction deployment section intersecting the belt-direction deployment section at a predetermined angle, the intersecting-direction deployment section extending in a direction along the surface of the seat back from the belt-direction deployment section, wherein the belt-direction deployment section and the intersecting-direction deployment section are configured to form a single bag by being coupled to each other below a head of the occupant sitting on the seat, and wherein a filler that fills a space between the belt-direction deployment section and the intersecting-direction deployment section is formed above an area where the belt-direction deployment section and the intersecting-direction deployment section are coupled to each other.
